We returned here for our second visit at almost the same time as when we came last year. The only difference was that we did not experience a heat wave this May! But the welcome at Douneside was no less warm & we found relaxation & wonderful food too. It was lovely to see a young family-4 children, very well... More

We had the most wonderful stay at Douneside last week. We hiked and went sightseeing, visited Balmoral and a distillery, climbed Scolty and encircled Loch Muick. Douneside is the perfect base for a highland vacation. The rooms are excellent, the staff are friendly and helpful, the food is delicious with lots of Scottish flavor. The chef even made my husband... More

The beautiful location, exceptional quality of the staff, good food and delightful company all made this a perfect break from the stresses and strains of everyday life. It's a great place to use as a base to explore the delightful Scottish countryside, see the sights, navigate the numerous walking trails and just generally chill. The facilities include a swimming pool,... More

We spent a glorious weekend in this delightful setting. The house itself is tastefully decorated and there are lots of pleasant and comfortable rooms to relax in. Food was fresh, tasty and imaginative and made from local ingredients. It all felt like staying in someone's lovely country house. The grounds are really beautiful and immaculately kept. Paul and Ginny were... More

This is the best kept secret in the Forces! A wonderful place to relax and unwind far from the madding crowd. I have been coming here for 35 years, and it is like a second home. It has a calm serenity, with good food (forget the diet), comfortable rooms, great facilities and best of all the company of old friends... More

We took quite a group of friends to Douneside - 21 of us in all. Paul and Ginnie made the booking and all arrangements easy and efficient. All were impressed on their first visit. There is so much to do in the surrounding area, that our group dispersed daily to Lochnagar and Meikle Pap, walks around Loch Muick, fly fishing,... More

Warm welcome, friendly staff, comfortable and relaxed atmosphere, topped off by good food and excellent service. Difficult to ask for much more when away with friends for a few days break. Been before, and look forward to going again.

The family had a lovely Easter break at Douneside despite record breaking cold weather. Lots of snow around but none on the roads, just fantastic views all around and the perfect excuse to stay in enjoying the wonderful hospitality.
