We attended a large Christmas party at the Borough Arms and although they were exceptionally busy , we were extremely well catered for. The food was excellent, well cooked and well served. The bar area although crowded was very efficient and every member of staff was very courteous and very attentive. The manager himself came around to check everyone was... more

This hotel typifies the old saying, 'You get what you pay for.' The room we booked was only £55 and didn't we know it! The 'elegant styling' described on the website simply means that they haven't been bothered to decorate for 20+ years. Dirt had set in and there was a general feeling of old, grubby stuffiness about. Room was... more

My daughter booked this Hotel for my husband and I to stay in as it was his 60th birthday and he was meeting with relatives who live in the Newcastle area. The room was very basic and very small even though the small room was not booked. The thing that bothered us the most though was that the toilet seat... more

Stayed here as my usual hotel was fully booked and to be honest despite it being a 3 star I was thoroughly impressed. The last few reviews here haven't been at all favourable so I was a little concerned but I really need not have worried! Check in was smooth and problem free and all the hotel ammenities were explained... more

Stayed for one night in this hotel, in the "annex". The main part of hotel was somewhat dated; the bar was OK even if it looked like my grandmother had decorated it. The "annex" was horrid - mould in the bathroom, bits of half-used soap left behind, horrible cheap tea bags and was extremely noisy throughout the night. It's OK... more

I'm afraid this place exemplifies everything that is bad about the old days of English hotels and B&Bs. WE had booked for five nights, on business, but got out after just one. From the website we were expecting something comfortable and polished, not grand, and with a sense of peace and the countryside. You enter via a difficult one way... more

We liked the location and standard but were initially worried by the bad reviews a year ago. We needn't have worried. The staff were very helpfull and freindly, the room excellent (we were told they were all revamped recently) and the food we had in the restaurant was very good. We would have no hesitation in recommending a stay. Directions... more

I recently visited this hotel on a corporate visit, because we were thinking of doing business with them. The hotel staff took us into rooms that were OCCUPIED - suitcases open on the bed, toiletries in the bathroom... Frankly it made me extremely uncomfortable and if it had been me staying in the room, I would have been horrified at... more

I have no idea why the person wrote the review that they wrote earlier on...this hotel is a B&B in its worst form! I am afraid I have seen even better B&Bs than this one...much better ones rather. It is very dirty and the staff is not helpful at all. more
