Our 3rd stay at the Oakbank - and we look forward to our return. We stayed in room 7 - fabulous king size bed with crisp sheets and the best pillows! After booking a two night stay at Oakbank I read the reviews on Trip Advisor and started to worry. The whole place has a slightly run-down appearance outside. The steps up to the front door need weeding. When you get inside it appears drab, and this was on a fine sunny Thursday October afternoon. Just back from a one night stay in Oakbank House Hotel. It is in a good location and the staff are friendly. Breakfast room is a bit tight for space. Location of this hotel/B&B is great - right in the centre of town, Bowness is a great location for the lakes. Accomodation is ok, although the room was clean on the surface, attention to detail is needed. Parking is tight, but we were lucky and managed to always find a space. On arrival at the Oakbank House Hotel you are always made to feel very welcome by the owners. We have stayed here three times and find the location ideal being in Bowness town centre with shops and restaurants immediately at hand. Booked into this hotel for the weekend 22-23 august 2009. location was exellent central to all surroundings. Beautiful view of all the lakes.It was very nice and clean. The room was clean and tidy. All general extra's such as TV, phone, internet access etc.. were available. The staff were friendly and helpful. There was an excellent breakfast and we really enjoyed the Lake views. I would recommend this Hotel to anybody who wants to visit the Lake District. more
