We have just had the unfortunate pleasure of spending a night in this so called hotel, having looked at its internet site, we booked direct with the hotel and paid a deposit over the phone, on arrival at the hotel we were told we had to pay the full amount up front before we got our key, the reason for... more

Forget the good reviews, this place really is a hole. OK, so we were only charged £35 / night, but even at that price I don't expect : - a toilet with "yellow" splash marks from the previous guest - dust & dirt on the bathroom floor. There was even a screw on the floor and what looked likea pile... more

We have just returned from a one night stay at the Stags Head with our 2 girls. We stayed there 13 years ago after our wedding and decided to go back to celebrate our anniversary with our children, as you do! We requested a quiet room as we knew the hotel had a basement disco. The room was basic and... more

Basically this is a hotel set above a gigantic pub and that's it. It looks nice from the outside but when you go through the doors it's just a pub with even a niteclub in the basement that's on until 2am, we were 3 floors up and still got awoken by people leaving in the street at 2.30am. The back... more

I travel both in the UK and Overseas and therefore stay in a motley collection of hotels which to be fair have improved, but only because I read other peoples reviews in Tripadvisor. In the case of the Stags Head in Bowness on Windermere, there was no such review so here is mine for you to consider. Bowness on Windermere... more
