Food was good, breakfast excellent, staff could not have been more helpfull or accomodating making me an early breakfast everyday of my stay. It is a listed building and as such full of character, unlike modern buildings with "cloned" rooms. All the facilities in the room you would expect and off street parking as well. A 15 minute walk or... More

This is purely regarding the new restaurant that has opened this week. Called the lounge Grill and offers burgers and steaks. Not a wide choice on the menu but had one of the best burgers I have ever tasted! 100% Aberdeen Angus Steak mince and filled with Stilton in a very tasty Ciabatta bun. The chicken wings starter was a... More

I'll try and some it up in as fewer words as possible Location: decent Staff: Unapproachable, and shifty - otherwise they were ok, Meals: unhealthy options all around :/ General observation: Massive hotel, looks ok, no lift, Rooms: ARGGGHHHHHH RUNNNNNN! disgustingly dirty i.e the toilet had stains everywhere!!, there were hairs in the sink and shower, the shower was mouldy... I don't wish to be negative but I confirm the observations from those who gave it poor reviews. There has been no change, eg tatty, worn carpet & curtains, smelly linen, dirty surfaces, stained table cloth, Presumably management cannot be unaware of situation but do not have the resources to correct deficiencies.

The hotel was booked through the book agent Redfern and to say i was dissapointed by the accomodation was an understatement. for someone who stays regularly in hotels across the UK this is one of the worsy i've stayed in over the past 5 years. Although the room was large, it was tatty to say the least and i would... More

The "manager" qouted is actually a receptionist who was obviously involved in "receptionist" duties when the guest wished for immediate attention. Not many "hostels for the unemployed have 40" flat screen t.v's, double beds and settees in their room, Brown bread is available at breakfast and if a healthy option breakfast is requested we do our utmost to accommodate. "One... More

I stayed here for two nights in July. I completely agree with all the comments regarding the state of repair of this hotel. It must have been a magnificent place 70 years ago, but unfortunately things change. My room was OK, but what can you do when the structure is so old? It had the highest ceiling I have ever... More

I could only spend one night in this place, I did not even unpack as I felt that my clothes would get dirty in the drawers. The en-suite bathroom was dirty so didn't use the shower. The bedclothes were poor quality and the cloth headboard was stained from peoples dirty heads. The area outside my room had a large dark... More

I arrived and parked at the front of the fairly grand hotel, but was directed to the rear of the hotel where I ended up between a pile of broken televisions and a large van with the alarm going off. I checked into the hotel and things seemed slightly better, so I threw my bag in my room and went... More

The room mentioned had been scheduled for re decoration and was the last room in the Hotel to be occupied for this reason, We are in the process of updating and re decorating all bedrooms, hence the old T.V's on the land BEHIND THE CAR PARK awaiting pickup. This land is not for customer car parking. More
