The dated decor in the bedrooms was not a problem. The broken sockets and light switches, dirty floor, luke warm water in the morning and most of all, the curtains that only covered half the huge windows, were. They are clearly trying to make a few last pounds until the business (or the building) collapses and they have to sell... more

Having stayed at this hotel, I have to say how friendly the staff are and how they would do anything possible to make your stay a pleasant one. The rooms are clean and the rate was reasonable. I will be visiting again soon. Thank you Victoria Park Hotel!! more

We booked into the Victoria Park after booking in at an even worse one in Barrow! So we were rather desperate. We were comfortable and warm. The rooms were big and clean and tidy, but as other reviewers state in serious need of a makeover. Window frames had flaking paint, old furniture etc... We paid £60 for a double and... more

Barrow in furnace is a town in need of regeneration, and is a prefect setting for the Victoria Park Hotel. On arrival we checked in to room 52, and then headed for the bar. This once impressive hotel, is now in a state of decay and in drastic need of repair. That said the staff were all friendly and the... more

On closer inspection of the room in daylight, two windows were cracked one had a small hole.the glass some of which was frosted had not been cleaned for years.... more

Booked this hotel before seeing the previous reviews & was dreading staying the night! Was very pleased to see that the rooms had been decorated recently. The furniture is still very old is some rooms but my parents room was very modern. Everywhere was clean and they are currently decorating the outside of this imposing and previously magnificent building. The... more

Having seen the hotel's website I decided (after ringing round a few other possibles) to book a single ensuite for (thankfully) just one night. The website had stated a £25 rate, but when I phoned I was quoted £40 and told that all the lower rate rooms had gone. Time was moving on, so I booked the room. On arrival... more

Stayed here on Saturday night in July for a friends night out in Barrow. Room was like something from the 1970's with probably the same furniture from then. Bed tiny - feet hanging over the edge. Bathroom grubby and worn with a poor shower. Staff in the bar about as welcoming as statues. They ran out of lemonade, ice,Red Bull etc... more
