What a great hotel, before we went we we're worried because we had heard it was in a rough area. Our fears were laid to rest when we got there though, The Hotel was part of a pub which was very clean and welcoming. The bar staff/reception staff were very very friendly and helpful and actually said if they'd realised... more

First of all, this may not be what you expect from a hotel! It's basically a pub with rooms. That said, it's an excellent pub, and the rooms are very nice; well decorated, with Sky TV and more than the usual range of 2 or 3 channels! The food here is genuinely amazing. The selection is about what you'd expect... more

welcomed by a member of staff f'ing and blinding on his phone. Had to pay up front for two nights stay. Was informed after payment that no food could be prepared as the kitchen needed work!!. Walked into a pleasant clean room to find a rather nice LCD tv but no reception!! A member of staffs only response was to... more

A wonderfull night with some really nice people. The Hotel is at the side of Craven Park, Had a few beers before the game, Watched the game, and then went back for some really nice hospitality with a room full of really great locals. The food is first class and the range of beers on offer is a C.A.M.R.A members... more

I guess it all depends on your expectations. I expected a hotel and ended up in a pub with rooms. No reception, book in at the bar. Room was clean enough, but nowhere to hang clothes. Food was OK but typical pub grub with few choices, also stopped serving at 2000Hrs. Pricey for what you get, local Travelodge about £10... more

I had a business meeting nearby and stayed there for three nights. It was quite busy with customers having Christmas Lunches with I tried and could not fault. The Hotel is easy to find and sits just outside the town centre. The lower floor has an open plan area with service from a bar in the middle which serves a games area... more

I'm giving this one star as in the general scheme of the hotel world it's poor. I'm starting to think that in Barrow it's probably a 3 or 4 star option... However, this is basically a pub with rooms - the rooms are a bit grim with cheap laminate flooring, pokey bathrooms and tatty fixtures. It's not utterly awful but... more

We arrived at the Ambrose to find a police car parked outside with the lights flashing! Fortunatley there had been an accident just outside the pub. When we got in there was a problem with our room in that they had us down for a double and we needed a family room, this however was quickly rectified with people running... more
