I know we have said it before but this must be the place to stay if visiting this part of the world. Kim and Mike Foreman make you feel so special and welcome it's hard not to come back for more. Comfortable beds, great bathroom, always clean and fresh, lovely garden, great breakfast. We will be back, again.

Our room was extremely spacious with a couple of comfortable armchairs in which to browse a very interesting collection of books. As already mentioned in previous reviews, breakfast is an avian spectacular with an enviable number of specimens visiting the feeders. The breakfast itself is also rather good (all good quality local produce). I particularly enjoyed the scrambled eggs. Kim... More

Made to feel very welcome, we enjoyed the very spacious room. Quiet location, so a car is essential, but as many others have mentioned, the breakfast in the conservatory, watching a multitude of birds, was an absolute highlight. Mike & Kim are lovely and made us feel at ease and at home. We've already recommended it to the in-laws!

Have stayed at Oak Cottage several times. Always a friendly welcome and a fantastic breakfast. My first choice for a stay in the North East. Only a few miles from motorway and attractions of Beamish Museum, Durham and Newcastle. Highly recommended.

We stayed overnight last Wednesday and this is the third time we have spent the night at this lovely place. We always get a lovely welcome from the owners and the breakfast is served in their lovely dining area overlooking their garden which is just beautiful and you can sit and enjoy watching the birds. We always have the full... More

Oak Cottage is a lovely place to stay, we stayed for 3 nights and were very comfortable. It is situated in a very small village therefore it is very quiet. As far as we are aware the nearest shop is about 1 mile away but larger shopping areas are a very easy 15 minute drive away - a car is... More

We stayed 1 night in this lovely family home - very comfortable, very friendly, helpful owners with a wonderful view of woodpeckers and nut hatches plus all sorts of other birds feeding from the bird table as we sat having a lovely breakfast in the sun in the conservatory. Very handy for Durham.
