We stayed here while attending my daughters graduation, it was very enjoyable stay, the staff were first class and everyone very helpful. The room wasa good size and very clean , the decor classic and well planned, with everything we needed including a fan in the wardrobe. We had a superb meal in the library restaurant which is a very... more

Stayed 2 nights a perfect place if you like peace quiet with deer and ducks outside your windows. We found food and accommodation good but staff a little untrained in customer care with nobody going the 'extra' mile. No information given on hotel or eating arrangement on booking in credit card details taken no other conversation. When we told reception... more

We stayed at this hotel over Easter 2009, choosing it for its location and the good reviews. We were fortunate to be given a room overlooking the comparatively small but pleasant landscaped garden, with a view of the church, waterwheel and pergola. The deer park is full of .... deer. There's also a pet cemetery, although I'm not convinced they... more

This hotel maybe more suited to a romantic break rather than for business but it suited my needs. The hall is situated in a deer park and you can see deer, stag, sheep and ducks wandering about from your bedroom window. The decor is a mix of traditional and modern and the hotel is generally well maintained and clean. The... more

All I can say is that this hotel is absolutley superb and shrouded in history. This was once the home to Bonnie Bobby Shafto of the famous North East Song and you can tell it belonged to someone important. It's not like many ex manor houses that have been turned into hotels because it is not owned by a chain... more

Discovered this late night on the Sunday before I traveled whilst trawling through the web for a last minute room. Lovely surroundings (deer park & small river valley garden) sumptuous bar, welcoming staff and excellent value, £96.00 Diner, B & B and you could choose from the al a carte menu plus it wasn't too corporate. Definately put this on... more

We visited Whitworth Hall as we were attending my husbands Christmas Function in Dec '07. We stayed there for £60 as we had already paid for our meals etc. We got there about 1, we were too early to check in so we went the pub Shafto's within the grounds, we had a bite to eat and couple of drinks.... more

Lovely setting and on the whole the public rooms were not too bad. The majority of the staff were very friendly but I agree with other comments they tend to run after wedding parties and ignore individually book people. Another couple that stayed the same time as us, and who were not with the wedding party agrred with this comment... more

The hotel is in a lovely location - we watched the deer as we ate breakfast. Room was large and clean but decor and bathroom dated and the bed was old (not in the antique sense!) - TV too. However, on the plus side the dinner was excellent, the staff friendly and at £65 per night for 2 including breakfast,... more
