From looking at pictures on websites this hotel promised so much - period charm with modern facilities... how wrong could we be?! Alarm bells started ringing as we drove into West Auckland which is quite frankly quite a run down, depressing town - not exactly where you would expect to find a Manor House of this type. Oh well... once... more

The hotel is situated in a very quiet village so would suit those wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle. The hotel itself oozes character and the staff do their best to make your stay enjoyable, never once did we experience any rudeness or unwillingness to help. Our room was situated in the courtyard building (not in the... more

Well this hotel is a bit of a strange one, has the potential to be a very good hotel but attention to detail lets it down, at £99 for atwin room we expect a lot better, we have stayed in 4 diamond guest houses that leave it standing ,main issues On arrival we noticed the public areas were a bit... more

We booked for Friday and Saturday nights Bed and Breakfast to attend a local function that we were arranging a Raby Castle. The breakfast was required before the publicized time and this was not a problem. We decided at the last minute to use the restaurant on both Friday and Saturday nights with a table for 12 on Saturday and... more

We wanted a relaxing night away within30 miles from Newcastle, with good food, plenty of drink and at a good price and thats exactly what we got. The room was comfort although a little cold but it was on one of the coldest days of the year. The staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome. The restaurant food... more

We booked in for a spa break, we believe a hotel is made by staff and the staff here are superb, friendly they go out of their way to make your stay comfortable they were all prepared to go that extra mile. Customer service second to none, food was good, my daughter is vegetarian and they gave her a list... more

I organised a reunion for 30 Deal or No Deal contestants over the weekend of 1st /2nd November 2008. We had a fantastic time in beautiful surroundings. The service was brilliant and the food top class. Nothing was too much trouble for Angela Thomas the Manager who ensured the entire weekend went without any problems. Many many thanks. Very highly... more

Wesy Auckland is not a place to attract tourists. It does have a passable green surrounded by stone built houses, and the Manor House Hotel is on this green. That said, there's nice country to the west and south. I stayed in Room 17, which is in the old part of the hotel. I can quite see that a room... more

I love these types of places - buildings steeped with character, individual service where the staff know you by your first name, rather than being room 302 etc. I stayed at the Manor House last week. This was my first visit here, although i'm in different hotels around Durham quite often. Very impressed by Angela, who was very hands on... more

We went to this hotel last month in August. It must have either had a lot of money spent on it and changed a lot of staff or some of the other reviews are misleading! I was a litle apprehensive about going having read reviews on here that were not too good but when we got there some other reviews... more
