JIm and Karen were excellent hosts. The room and en suite were clean and comfortable and the breakfasts were delicious. It was just a short stroll into the centre of Durham and there were lots of places nearby for evening meals- if you like Indian food we would recommend the Spice Lounge, best Indian food we've had in ages and... more

We cannot praise this establishment enough. Our room was beautifully decorated, and clean. The breakfast was excellent, with a large choice, anything from kippers to a delicious full English Breakfast, plus cereal, fresh fruit, juices, tea, coffee and all the trimmings, also my special diet was catered for. The Hotel is within a few minutes walk of Durham Town, and... more

This B & B can best be described as nice and cozy. By cozy, I don't mean that the rooms are small - my room was a decent size- just very comfortable. There's a breathtaking view of the cathedral from the back door. It was lovely to have fresh berries at breakfast. Thanks to the host for parking my car. more

I'm currently sitting in my warm, dry, comfortable room using the free Wifi to write this review, the internet access is a fantastic bonus on a rainy day like today! My room also has a large desk, which is ideal for myself. When I arrived earlier today the rain was torrential, but there were plenty of parking spaces outside the... more

Staying in B&Bs is often a bit like playing Russian roulette. So it's always nice to find a B&B which makes you genuinely happy to have stayed there and had a unique experience instead of playing it safe at a faceless travel lodge. And this B&B is what makes B&B accommodation wonderful. The room itself was more 'boutique hotel' than... more

Pokey little room at the top of the house, no water pressure so almost impossible to shower (no bath). Breakfast: there are fewer tables than rooms so if you are unlucky you have to wait. The serving/kitchen staff are particularly rude and unhelpful - everything is too much trouble (you want a glass - I am too busy!!!). Breakfast itself... more

We welcome constructive opinion of our business to enable us to improve the accommodation, food and service. These guests did not make us aware that they were dissatisfied with the size of their room or that there was a problem with the water pressure at the time of their visit. In 10 years in business here, none of our rooms...

A big thank you for the fantastic hospitality I received during my recent stay at Cathedral View. My stay in Durham was highly memorable from start to finish and I thoroughly enjoyed the excellent accomodation provided by Jim and Karen; the room was very comfortable and well maintained throughout my stay and the breakfasts were immensely enjoyable, especially the Craster... more

The Cathedral View Town House is a typical English B&B, but of excellent quality. It is situated very much near the center of Durham (5 minutes walk), in a former students house. We stayed there in August for 2 nights. Our room was spacious, clean, with excellent beds and comfortable chairs. There is no sitting room, but that is no... more

I have stayed here countless times - with and without partner. The rooms and facilities are stylish, comfortable and well provided. The breakfast is second to non and the welcome is warm and friendly. You couldn't ask for more. more

I was impressed by the good food, nice, extremely clean room. The hotel provided the perfect base for us to explore the North East. Karen and her team were very welcoming and their attention to detail is second to none. The house is near a warm and friendly pub called the Woodman Inn, as well as a number of excellent... more
