Welcoming from the minute we arrived. Would highly recommend the deluxe room, fantastic view over harbour. Staff were extremely attentive and food in restaurant was suberb. Looking forward to returning. more

The staff were friendly, the food was quite nice, the dining rooms tidy . Though it appeared that any investment in the hotel had been put into the ground floor alone. The bedroom and upstairs corridors were tired with old furniture. The bathroom had underfloor heating which was quite hot. No doubt this contributed to the black mould growing in... more

Welcoming host and staff, fabulous selection of starters and mains (particularly fish). Unfussy, generous portions in comfortable surroundings. Great value, only criticism being that the desserts seemed to lack a fine/light touch. Would love to return and sample more of the savouries. Found it to be busy on a Monday night. We stayed at this hotel for a night and ate in the restaurant. Our first room [room 6] had no heating - even in the bathroom - during a chilly spell of weather - our second [room 3] was better. However, the meal was pretentious pub food at good restaurant prices - expensive at half the price. more

Room had lovely outlook over the harbour. Booked for two nights mid-week break, slightly aging decor but lots of character. Friendly staff with fabulous breakfast included. Great walks from the door along cliff top paths; probably a bit hairy with buggy or toddlers. Great location to explore area, with Edinburgh or English border within a day's outing.
