Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

The hotels is little dated but the staff are very friendly and helpful. The beds were clean and comfortable but water pressure is low in a lot of rooms effecting the shower. However the food was acceptable and the 4 free drinks per night were great. Entertainment very night with bingo, the singers were ok but one singer was exceptional, his name was Stevie!. He actually works in the kitchen but he was in a different league to the singers they brought into the hotel. He sings all types of music and has a way to fully engage the audience. We would go back again just to listen to Stevie, the hotel should give him a pay rise to keep him there! Ha

Hotel room was very small but cleaned daily. Food is tasty but small portions . Sometimes think we were rushed into eating our meal. Brought hot breakfast food out when still eating cereal. Staff seemed friendly. The hotel is in a good location on the front

Lovely Hotel. could not fault it, Room was clean, maid in everyday to change towels etc. Food was very good, entertainment was good with cash bingo every night. All the staff in the hotel were very helpful and vey friendly. If people are expecting 5 star treatment for 3 star prices then they should stop moaning and go elsewhere. We went on a 5 day Caladonian travel package which included 4 free drinks every night for each person., which saved us money. Only thing i can complain about is that you are not getting 5 days as 2 of them were wasted on travelling. I took us over 13 hours to travel from Paisley to the hotel and the same on our return journey. Sorry to say i will not be returning, not because of the Hotel, but because of the long journey. I woul also like to mention to any one thinking of going between the months of January and March to think again as the season does not start until April. Hardly anything was open

I was a bit apprehensive after reading previous reviews, but, in my opinion the hotel was wonderful. Lovely staff who couldn't do enough for you and the food was delicious (and I'm a very picky eater). Of course, it's not a boutique hotel and it is a bit tired and dated but hey hotels have had a bad time of it due to the economy and covid and it did look as though they were updating, slowly but surely. My room was spotless, comfortable bed and although the pillows were a lot flatter than I would normally have, it was no problem to have more supplied if asked for. Entertainment was good. Absolutely nothing to complain about. For what I paid it was excellent value. Those who moan should stay at the modern hotels and pay the extremely high rates they have to pay. All in all I thought the previous reviews were very unfair. Would I go back - in a heartbeat.

Never stay at this hotel the beds are worse than the ones in prisons the quilts were wafer thin so did not keep you warm my friend had to ask for a blanket the food wasn't hot everything was plated not a buffet style you had to tick what you wanted for evening meal and there was only 2 choises the only best thing about the restaurant that was good was the waitress we had she was like a whirlwind and very helpfull the entertainment thay had was the bottom of the barrel it was OK if you liked to drink you had to pay for your drinks with a bank card as thay said no cash system the bathroom we had you could not use the shower as it was dirty as well as slippy we went for Christmas but we won't go there again the isle of white looks lovely but this has put us off I think coach companies should go to a better hotel

Please don't be fooled by the pictures the rooms are nothing at all like it they are in serious need of redecoration and updated furniture the hotel stairs hadn't seen a hoover in weeks the tables and chairs in bar and dineing room are disgusting the pillows were like envelopes they were that thin the whole place needs shutting and serious money spending on it also one member of staff needs to learn some manners and customer service skills what a shame because the food was excellent but the rest of it is unacceptable

Great location right on the sea front, Fantastic staff in all areas, but unfortunately that is were the good review stops. Anyone who thinks this hotel is worth more than 1 star you are easily pleased. We were looking forward to a very pleasant stay for Xmas on a 5 day bus tour with Caledonian travel. Two of our party of four are bad at walking so use a walker , it was impossible going up the steps outside and needed help, there was no porters to help with suitcases the bus drivers had to help to lift the walkers up and down the steps it was not their job so a big thank you big and little Dave, we were told later there was a ramp at the side of the hotel but the door was locked yet the hotel new two bus trips were due in with pensioners on board. The rooms are tired, small and definitely not worth the £60 upgrade we paid, although we did get £20 back off the duty manager because he saw we had to keep the curtains closed with my hair clip. Food was atrocious, we were put in the extension as a dining room , no carpets on the floor only concrete, no table cloths even on Xmas day, it was the most boring day I never wish to repeat, I could go on and òn about how wrong this hotel is it needs to close one room at a time and get it sorted especially the bathrooms they are a disgrace. Caledonian should not use this hotel.

Dump of a hotel. Dirty rooms, holes in wall, light shades broken. Food Inedible. Not anywhere near the pictures on website. Needs renovation throughout. Ordered a glass of white wine, had to take it back as the glass was dirty inside and out, when explained to the bar man he said it must have been the water they used. “Must have come straight out of the Solent then” wine totally undrinkable asked for sauvignon blanc but it could have been Solent blanc. Disgusting. Don’t stay here.

On a positive note most of the staff were pleasant and helpful, excellent breakfasts with spotlessly clean rooms. The evening meal was very disappointing. However, the hotel is in dire need of investment so much so that I would not stay there again. There was not space "to swing a cat" in our room which faced a brick wall. The colour scheme and decor were atrocious, and the curtains only fit for use in a dogs bed.

This is an old hotel, and tired. But the staff are brilliant, and do go out their way to help. They go the extra mile, and always with a smile. The food was hot, and we did have a choice, for the the money we paid, we couldn’t complain, as it is a three star hotel.Neil the proprietor even run us to the bus stop so we didn’t miss our bus to Cowes. Very helpful and we did appreciate that lift.
