We decided at the last minute to go over to the Island and stay the night.We had to 'phone the hotel dorect as it was such late notice,but they were very helpful and booked us in and said that we could have an upgrade to a garden room.We checked in really early the next morning as the room was free......lovely... more

Reminded me a little of Brideshead Revisted with its Edwardian style conservatory and decor. Lovely rooms, comfortable and cosy...but the Royal's crowning glory is its dining... superbly prepared and excellently presented and served. I heartily recommend a stay if only for the nostalgia !!! more

Pleasant reception area and a friendly receptionist. Tatty - that was the main opinion with regard to the room. It had a sea view fortunately, but the carpet, general decor and bedspread were in need of a complete revamp. A very well-kept and carefully presented hotel. Public areas are lovely, furniture is of high quality and the rooms and breakfasts are as one would expect from a hotel of this grade. Service impeccable, both from the reception staff and in the restaurant. Expensive, but very good. more
