We booked 6 nights directly with the hotel based on Trip Advisor recommendations. We were late getting to the hotel after a rough crossing from Belfast so we were glad to be on dry land. Sadly we'd missed all the food at the hotel and hadn't been able to face it on the ship. We were impressed with the friendliness... more

We have just returned from a long weekend break in Douglas. We stayed at the Ascot and found it comfortable with friendly welcoming staff. The room was adequate, shower hard to start unless you have a good grip. Television small, needed binoculars to view it from the bed ( Like to watch news and weather before deciding what to do... more

I stayed in the Ascot with my husband for a couple of nights as my husband was working. Our first trip to IOM and we loved it. The hotel is clean and very comfortable-we stayed in the chester room which was large, nice flat screen tv and lovely sea view. The room was clean and bed comfortable. The room & bathroom... more

Nothing wrong really, but (for my preferences) it would not have suited for a longer holiday-type stay, though I guess things could feel different without the frost and biting wind! The hotel is not in the best location as its quite a walk to the town centre (well, in the cold, but ok if warmer) and its in a street... more

We arrived from Northern Ireland to stay for two nights in this superb family run hotel (three rooms booked in total). The Superior rooms are spectacular and even the standard executive room (one of which we had for a smoker in the party) was of a very high standard. One of the Superior rooms even had a waterproof LCD television... more

Overall the hotel is average. Rooms are large but the smoking room can be better ventilated - it reeks of cigarette smoke. Service is quite friendly and courteous and check in and chek out was pleasant. Bathrooms are good and have the whirlpool bath as advertised. Breakfast was sumptuous and more than adequate. But they slipped a bit - the... more

Myself and my family stayed at the Hotel forr 4 days after reading the reviews on Trip Adviser. We found the staff friendly and efficient and were more than hapy to help in any way they could. The location of the hotel was excellent within easy walking distance into Douglas itself. The room and bathrooom could not of been cleaner.... more

Stayed at the Ascot in August '08 for a weekend. Nice hotel, not expensive rooms. The hotel is about a 10-15 minute walk from the centre of Douglas, but still right off the main Promenade. Ferry terminal is at least 20 minutes away on foot. The room was not big nor very modern, but everything was in good shape. Bathroom... more

Sorry, folks, I had a nice and informative review all written up and then, I lost internet connection and it is gone forever. Here were the highlights: Good Points: 1) Staff - super super super great staff. The shining star of the hotel. 2) Breakfast - tasty, plentiful, really good English breakfast. 3) Housekeeping Staff - they're great, really efficient.... more
