After reading some of the reviews on trip advisor, I was a little skeptical about staying at the Royal Pier Hotel. We arrived for a 3 night break and I was pleasantly surprised. We paid very little for our room, but despite this, we had a seafront facing room. Although the decor of the room was a little dated, it... More

Just a quick e mail to pass on our thanks on to all concerened after our little stay this weekend, once again it was really enjoyable and the staff were as usual excellent, from our waiter Scott, to all the bar staff, and a special thank you to your receptionist Sarah who went that extra mile in helping us with... The room was clean but needs renovation. Wallpaper's coming off, creaky floors, old sheets with penmark and ink on them, old TV, toilets very loud (for some reason, everytime our neighbour would flush the toilet you could hear the water flowing through our pipes-very annoying). The rooms was as hot as a sauna, so I opened the window which had... More

Thank you for your review following your recent stay. Our renovation plans are in progress. We are behind due to poor weather conditions as we have to start with the pointing in 2 weeks and then we can move on. It is always difficult when another guest closeby is inconsiderate. The heating is on a time limiter and the radiators... More

Many thanks for your review following your recent stay. We are pleased your group enjoyed themselves. We accept the size of the lift is an inconvenience and have looked at replacing it but the quote was astronomical so we decided to continue with the upgrading of the bathrooms etc. More

The trouble with lots of hotels in the UK is that they are left in the 70's style, workchip furniture and flowery bedspreads. Royal pier is just one of those hotels. Clean though and staff friendly, food was good. Location great enjoyed the walk into Shanklin along the sea front.

Thank you for your review following your recent stay. We have a refurbishment plan in place and the work is prioritised. We still feel that if it is clean, with good staff and food, the flowery bedspreads (although we do not have many left) are a minor issue. More

Don't go to the royal pier expecting 4 star luxury. The hotel is well run with exceptional staff who all seemed happy to be working there. A special mention for Scott our waiter who worked hard and kept cheerful throughout our visit and the reception staff who were very helpful. The hotel does mainly cater for coach parties and provides... More

Thank you for your review following your recent stay. We appreciate your comments and have never professed to be a 4 Star hotel. We feel we are a good value 2 Star hotel and most people would expect that from what they have paid. Our evening meal is 6.30-7.00pm and I agree that it is early, but most of the... More

We really enjoyed our 3 night stay at the Royal Pier Hotel. The staff were friendly and nothing was to much trouble. The views from our bedroom window across Sandown Bay was superbe. The hotel offered a good menu with plenty of variety. We would have no hesitation in recommending the hotel to others. First Class. Mr & Mrs Morant

Easily situated above the Sandown Pier on the south side of the island, the former royal residence of Princess Beatrix does not disappoint. Expansive vistas from Bembridge to Shanklin and out to the English Channel. The food was excellent, as were the waiting staff, bar managers, cleaning staff and management. Noting is too much trouble.
