The trouble with lots of hotels in the UK is that they are left in the 70's style, workchip furniture and flowery bedspreads. Royal pier is just one of those hotels. Clean though and staff friendly, food was good. Location great enjoyed the walk into Shanklin along the sea front.

Don't go to the royal pier expecting 4 star luxury. The hotel is well run with exceptional staff who all seemed happy to be working there. We really enjoyed our 3 night stay at the Royal Pier Hotel. The staff were friendly and nothing was to much trouble. The views from our bedroom window across Sandown Bay was superbe. Easily situated above the Sandown Pier on the south side of the island, the former royal residence of Princess Beatrix does not disappoint.
