This is a hotel / retirement home full of busloads of pensioners on their annual jollee. They obviously don't want wifi or a decent shower or the hotel would provide it. The Ocean is one of several hotels that gives good views along Sandown beach to which you have to pay extra to have sea facing room. The Ocean along with the others also have a noisy road at the back so getting a sea view is essential to me. Also the Ocean has a car park for around 25 cars... more

This is a well run, well staffed, spotlessly clean hotel.It is beautifully situated on the seafront at Sandown, with a tropical garden frontage , which no other hotel on the front has. We recently took a few days in the Isle of Wight having never been before and with the help of Trip Advisor plumped for this hotel as a base for travelling the island. You may have gathered, this hotel (and indeed the resort) in Sandown appeals to the older generation but does tolerate children. (although not all the residents do!)... more

Stayed here with my son and girlfriend over the Bank holiday weekend 22-25 Aug’ 2008. We were booked to stay at the Carlton Hotel but when we saw this hotel there was only one decision to be made. Was slightly more expensive than the Carlton but the free parking offered for residence was very convenient and worth the extra cost.... more
