Spent 2 nights here as part of a walking weekend. It proved to be a good choice. A lot of detached buildings, cabins tastefully arranged above the loch. Can be a bit of walk to the dining area (especially if it rains) but once here the view over the loch takes some beating and is what makes this place. Room... More

We stayed here at the Loch Insch Hall with friends which was classed as a hostel on their website however is it certainly more than this, the rooms are clean and have everything you need with tea/coffee making facilities, towels etc. We received a warm welcome at the reception on arrival, where they were very helpful with information on local... Although I'd hate to see it spoilt by an influx of visitors, Loch Insh Hall & Watersports Centre provides a delightful location for a family holiday, or, as we enjoyed it, a family wedding. The chalets were well equipped and, though tight on space in bedrooms and basic as far as bathroom facilities were concerned, adequate for our purposes. Situated... More

Yet another fantastic weekend at Loch Insh with use of the water sports equipment early morning and late afternoon. Where else can one get free use of windsurf equipment, canoes, safety equipment, etc thrown in with bed and breakfast? The breakfast as usual surpassed itself, juices, cereals, fruit, yoghurts, sausage, bacon, potatoe scones, mushrooms, beans, tomatoes, eggs, toast, brioche, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, etc etc.... More

This was our second stay at Loch Insh, in a chalet. This time we stayed for a full week. I have to commend this family run enterprise - i am hard to please when it comes to accommodation (i am a tourism consultant) and our chalet was a bit dated and we could hear our neighbours through the wall. BUT... More

We have stayed at Loch Insh many times in both the hall and various chalets. The location is simply lovely, right on the edge of Loch Insh - if you are staying in a chalet try to get one with a Loch view as they do not all have one. The chalets we have stayed in have all been extremely... More

Stayed at Loch Insh Hall on Friday 11th November 2011 in advance of mountain biking over Carn Ban Mor the following morning. Arrived at 9:30pm on the Friday evening after a 3hr drive to find the bar was closed and no sign of any staff around - we were advised in advance this would likely be the case and to... More

Obviously Mr Cowie does not like the three letters of correspondence he has had, but he really ought to be a little more truthful. They were advised in advance that if they were arriving late the key would be in the door (which it was). At 3pm a 2.5kw radiator had been placed in the room and switched on, the... More

We stayed for 5 nights at a lodge in Loch Insh, one closest to Loch, and had an excellent holiday. Staying at the lodge allowed us to have free use of equipment for water sports 8.30am - 10am & 4pm-5.30pm, which was great as we had three boys who love the water. We go to Aviemore a lot so know... Me and my girlfriend stayed at the Loch Insh Hall on a MTB trip trough Scotland. The people working in the reception were nice and polite, and very helpful. We had had some problems with our bikes, and the receptionist told us to contact one of the guys working in the watersports centre. He gave us equipment to clean our... More

Reply to Norwegian couple They appeared to have more interest in the free servicing of their bicycles than in the accommodation and food. It is always sad to have to even consider defending your position with the inaccurate comments. We actually stopped using powdered egg sometime around 1947, it may still be in use in Norway, but it certainly isn’t... More
