Have just returned from this Hotel. We booked for 8 nights but curtailed our visit as we had booked into THE SANDY COVE LODGE. At no time when we made the reservation were we told that this was situated up a steep slope alonge another road and up some more steps. When we complained that this was not pointed out... more

Generally very nice hotel, fabulous setting, good food. But don't expect good hospitality if you take your dog. Very unhelpful regarding meal arrangements. We didn't want to leave our dog in the room (or car as some owners did). We were served dinner outside on first night, refused on 2nd night as 'they shouldn't have done it on 1st night'.... more

These people were booked into Sandy Cove by the owner of a holiday cottage, who had mistakenly double booked his cottage. He was therefore paying for them to stay at the Hotel. Our Hotel had always been dog friendly - we advertise in Pets Welcome - but what we do not want to do is annoy the vast majority of...

After reading the reviews, I felt quite sad, we visited Sandy Cove on a six monthly basis from Summer 1998 to Xmas 2002. First of all it was brilliant, the food, rooms (with sea view) the cleanliness of the facilities. The only downside was the miserable and argumentative receptionist . It was quite embarrassing when we were paying our bill... more

After reading some rather unpleasent review on here, I feel the need to add my comments. My husband and I booked a 3 night break through the hotels website and werent really sure what to expect after reading some of the other comments. From the start, we felt welcomed and very at home here. The staff were all friendly and... more

You need a lot ot tolerance and self control to go here. Room was shabby and you wont get much sleep due to disco, thin walls and creaking floors. The meals are not up to scratch at all. Was a first for me to have fish steak with tin of chopped tomatoes poured on top, an amazing combination, am still... more

Having read views on this hotel the day before we were due to stay there a lot of which seemed to be negative, I admit both my husband and myself were worried at what we might find. We had booked a three night stay in a twin bedded room and had paid for dinner, Bed & breakfast. We arrived back... more

My husband and I stayed at The Sandy Cove Hotel for 2 nights on the 14th March for my birthday. Our bedroom was very warm and comfortable with the most spectacular sea views. We decided on the dinner, bed and breakfast option and thank goodness we did. The food was absolutely delicious from start to finish. The staff were very attentive... more

Tempted by the "spectacular views" and " 5 course gourmet dinners" as advertised in the Saturday Telegraph, we booked into the Sandy Cove for a 4 night break to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Unquestionably the views are spectacular, but that is the only positive statement we could make about this hotel. There was no smiling welcome and nothing to make... more

We have just returned from a 4 night break at the Sandy Cove Hotel. The reviews on this site are so mixed, we thought it may be helpful to give our view. The location of the hotel is wonderful. It is so peaceful and the view is amazing. There are quite a few walks to do around or near the... more

My husband and I booked a break at this hotel in February. The deal was to book for 2 nights, and receive 2 nights free. The cost was £105.00 per person per day, DBB. There were other places offering similar rates, obviously to keep the places ticking over in the winter months. Having travelled extensively, we were confident that this... more
