Due to flight schedules, I was going to be stuck at Gatwick airport for 20 hours. The prices at Gatwick airport hotels were sickening, and I started searching for the nearest town outside of Gatwick. The town of Horley is it.
Due to a change in plans, I ended up being there for 44 hours; and I decided that a couple of day-trips into London were in store. This was do-able from Horley if you can walk a bit (which you are going to do in London anyway). A day ticket is available from the Horley station after 9:30 am for 12,70 pounds which gets you the train in and out of London as well as unlimited use of the London Tube. That seems like a lot of money at first but it is a great value once you see what you get. The train is approx. 40 minutes each way to London Victoria or London Bridge.
Masslink is probably a B&B at the lower end of the scale. I believe that none of the rooms have a private bath, but this fact is reflected in the lower rates. The place...
