Stayed for a weekend for a shopping and sightseeing trip with some girlfriends and was delighted with our stay. From the service, to the quality of the room and the lovely food on offer we couldn't believe it wasn't a four star hotel. It certainly has four star rooms and a fabulous Scottish breakfast. I had been to the hotel... more

Just spent a girl’s weekend in Stirling for my friend’s birthday. We had a great time. Hotel is centrally located and just a short walk from bars, restaurants and the castle. We were booked into a standard room, after reading reviews we were a bit worried, no need. Rooms are fab, more than value for money. They were very modern,... more

First visit to Sterling, travelled for a business meeting and stayed at the Golden Lion Hotel for two nights. Very friendly and accommodating staff. It was evident that the rooms had been recently refurbished. Modern room with flat screen TV and stylish bathroom. Superb location in the centre town. The hotel was excellent value for money. Recommend the full Scottish... more

We travelled up from the South of England to attend a special event. The event was a Black and White Birthday Ball at the hotel and we also also stayed there. We had a fabulous time, the ballroom was beautifully decorated, the food was delicious, with a Scottish flavour, and our whole family thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The rooms were... more

Great location in the heart of Stirling close to Stirling Castle. I stayed in this hotel for a function. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were told that all the rooms had been recently refurbished and were not disappointed with ours. The food at the function was excellent and the next morning the breakfat lived up to my... more

The location of this hotel is excellent, right in the centre of Stirling among the shops. The rooms have recently been updated and were fresh and clean. Though ourselves and a number of guests had to request alternative rooms due to being given twins despite asking for doubles. This was slightly frustrating due to the cost and the lengthy journey... more

Good choice for traditional value-for-money lunch. Can't comment on the hotel itself, but the restaurant is well worth it if you are peckish. Portions are huge, and prices competitive. Environment has some nice period features, but can imagine, like other comments, that it doesn't get the TLC it deserves from the management. For example, from our table we could see... more

Stayed here with 3 other couples and on a coach holiday (Travellers Choice) for Hogmannay 2008. 3 nights. The Hotel has a good location in the town centre and thats about the only plus point really. The rooms were in real need of decorating! ours had a television that must have dated back to the 70s! The wallpaper and carpets... more

The good things about the Golden Lion was the food and plenty of it, also the location is excellent right in the town centre, but the hotel could do the a bit of TLC i.e. room 331 had a old small TV with only 4 or 5 channels with no remote and the view from the window is a roof,... more
