We have just returned from a week long stay at the 'Hawthornes'.Paula was an excellent hostess, whistling cheerfully while she made breakfast (free range eggs from Paula's hens, sausages and bacon from her pigs, bread and jam homemade). This B&B has everything we look for - countryside, animals, wonderful accommodation, good breakfasts, very high standard of rooms for both cleanliness... More

My partner heard about these lovely lodges through meeting the owners through work. We booked and invited 3 couples. It was lovely experience, the lodges were to a very high standard. They were toasty on an evening and the log burners made it feel very cosy. Gorgeous setting close to Pickering center and also tourist attractions such as Whitby. Very... More

By far the best B&B ever. Paula the landlady goes out of her way to make you feel welcome. he goes that extra mile to ensure your stay is a good one. While there my 84 year old mother became ill and Paula even drove us to the hospital! The choose for breakfast was good and the food well cooked... More

Quite simply, the best b&b we’ve ever stayed in. Paula, the owner, epitomises a Yorkshire welcome – nothing was too much trouble, including waiting up for us on our late arrival. Our room was very spacious and spotlessly clean with a very comfy bed and good shower. We slept really well. Breakfast was superb – plentiful and with tasty homemade... More

Myself and my partner had a lovely 2 night stay at the Hawthorns. Lovely location. Lovely food.Lovely rooms. The pigs in the garden were lovely also. Would highly recommend and visit again. Lots to do in the area. Make sure you go on the Steam Railway to Whitby getting off at Goathland for a walk.

We stayed in the new eco-log cabin at the Hawthornes for 3 nights. Can't recommend highly enough. Really really great accommodation - finished to a very high standard, very well equipped, beautiful location. We arrived to fresh scones, fresh eggs, home baked bread and home made jam, which was a nice touch. We especially enjoyed the veranda - western facing,... More
