I booked a family get together for 12 of our family for my wife's 40th birthday at Raudin's Restaurant. We had a fantastic evening, great value for money, the food was excellent, great choices all freshly cooked, the restaurant has a great relaxed atmosphere and the owners were the perfect hosts, nothing was to much trouble. I would recommend anyone... More

We have just spent 2 nights at the York house. We were greeted by the very friendly owner. Parking was not a problem as you can park free on the street behind the hotel from 5pm until 9am.This is classed as a guesthouse so the 4* should not be compared to a 4* hotel. The breakfasts were lovely particularly the fruit... The York House is situated on very busy main thoroughfare and there is no parking provided. (on the 2nd night I was directed to park in an alley behind the hotel - a bit sketchy!). First off they could not find my booking (thru Booking.com). The room (#214) was small, well worn, dated and cold - no heating . The... More

Stayed at the York this week. We were greeted by the lady owner, she explained where our room was and asked us what time we would like breakfast. From the moment we arrived to the minute we left we felt welcome. The breakfasts were lovely and set us up for the days sightseeing, they also came with some welcome banter... More

I stayed at the York House hotel on business. The room was not booked by myself so I had some concerns before getting there. Once there I struggled a little to park, however once inside I was informed to park around back for free. The room was small but clean, comfy and I got a great night's sleep. So much... More

We chose this hotel as a deal came up on KGB Deals for 2 nights b&b at an excellent price for a "Claimed" 4 star hotel - bargain I thought but sadly we were in for a huge shock. When we booked the stay a few months in advance I thought the lady on the phone was a bit abrupt... More

I have read a number of reviews on this b&b since we visited and find the inconsistency bizarre. I wonder if the owner has only enough politeness and common courtesy for a selection of guests? I would agree this is not 4* and I have stayed in many hotels. The insults from the owner were free which was unique and... More

I stayed at the York Hotel during a business trip to Hatlepool. The hotel was described on line as a self stated 4*. I travel quite a lot a spend many nights in Hotels and it wouldn't fall into my description of a 4* but having said that, I was not disappointed at all.I chose the hotel because of price... More

For my husbands birthday and being very new to the area of country Durham my husband found The York hotel and requested we go for the evening to celebrate. Delighted as I love French food. What was even better is we found a deal on Wowcher, a site providing extra discount. The room, with a main meal for two with... More
