The person who wrote the last report must have stayed in a different Mayfield than my wife and i stayed in. The room that we stayed in was fresh and clean and the windows were fully double glazed. All the essentials were provided, tea, coffee, hairdryier, tv etc.The propriator was very helpful and friendly and the breakfast excellent. I can assure you that the Mayfair is definitely value for money more

We recently stayed at Mayfield House for accommodation for a get-together. This was the last accommodation we could find available in Bangor.

The rooms were reasonably clean but the decor is very dated and I'd guess haven't seen a lick of paint or paper for about 30 years. The furniture and beds are of a similar age and quality. The house still has some sash windows which do not retain heat well, our room was luke-warm until the heating went off at which point it cooled to the extent we went to bed in fleeces.

This is basic accommodation which would be OK for a basic price, however £55 per night was over-priced for this standard.

The single room had the shower unit in the bedroom, with the toilet in a cupboard at the end of the bed - en-suite in the extreme. Decor was a similar state to the twin and certainly not worth the £34 per night.

In summary: basic and over-priced, only stay as a last resort.
