We arrived in Walton looking forward to a drink and a meal but the Centurion Inn is now closed. The landlady at our B&B said it had been closed for two years, and there is little chance of it reopening. There is an unlicensed - but otherwise excellent - tea shop in the village hall in Walton.

I was put in a room that appeared to be in the middle of either being refurbished or demolished. The door to the bathroom had no handle - only a long screw that you had to pull on. They said the shower had been broken by the people who stayed in the room the night before, and gave me a... More

fine for a one night stop when walking the hadrians wall path, and the evening meal was great and the waiter was really good and friendly. The rest of the story is that the accomodation was a bit on the basic side, but theres not a lot of accomodation choice in these parts and I would cheerfully go back

I had to go to Carlisle for the weekend and booked into the Centurion Inn because the location looked fantastic. We had planned to spend the evening with friends and returned just before 11.15pm to find the pub locked and shut, and we knocked on the door and phoned the contact number to no avail. We ended up going back... More

Stayed here whilst backpacking Hadrian's Wall. Ideally located for this, right on the trail route. Room was okay, bit dated. Staff were helpful when we arrived (dripping wet from a rainstorm) but came across as a bit strange. Food was average at best, but very expensive compared to other similar establishments we ate at along the trail. Other guests had... More

The Centurion Inn is a small , very homely pub with just 4 rooms. The room we occupied had 2 single beds, and en suite bathroom for £58 per night. Although small, the room was perfectly adequate and was kept very clean. The ensuite had an electric shower but there was no heating in there and the ceramic floor tiles... More

This is a one-night stop for those walking the Hadrian's Wall Path but not suitable for staying longer. We stayed for four nights and never had our beds made or bins emptied once. We had to ask for toilet tissue and the towels were unusable! The room was very basic - four drawers with no liners but only three opened,... More
