We stayed for 2 nights at the Burnett Arms. Our room was very basic and quite dated as was the bar and foyer when you walked in. It also smelt beery which was quite off putting. We had a front facing room so all we could hear during the night were teenagers squawking and making a racket. In our bathroom,... more

We were placed in a garret room that was small for a family of three. The room was clean, but the beds and amenities were only adequate. Very limited view due to small garret windows. The hotel is in a 150-year-old house and has retained some of the charm of that era, but the owners may be trying to squeeze... more

I'm not usually moved to write reviews however feel I must warn people about this hotel and, if you need to stay in Banchory, encourage people to try and find better accomodation elsewhere. We stayed for a night in November and I would have to say that it is over-priced and terrible value for money. It is the sort of... more

This hotel isn't cheap (£77 single room, £100 double) and it is absolutely awful. I have no idea how anyone could have given the hotel 5 stars. The one star is more accurate. Negative points: Room decor - looked like Barbara Cartland designed it (blue floral!) Absolutely hideous unless you're an eccentric 80 something lady! Bathroom - simply a cupboard... more

Not pre-booked, but the receptionist couldn't have been more helpful when we walked in on a miserable Sunday evening. We were given a lovely room that I believe they use as the bridal suite. Enormous room, lovely warm bathroom with plenty of toiletries and bathrobes. Bottled water in the room, always a bonus. We had our eveing meal there , great... more

We booked this hotel having previously stayed in a 3 star Best Western in Montrose (excellent), so expectations that the hotel in Banchory would be to the same standards. How wrong were we ! It was £80 for a double room b & b for one night (2 people). The room was dire - mould covered most of the bathroom... more

Have never stayed, but the cheeseburgers are great. The staff are friendly and soup on the menu changes every day. Always a good sign ! Lots of ladies of a certain age with hats on. Another good sign, how many establishments survive without the "and she said" brigade ! They are most choosy and will always "out" a good scone... more
