As a past guest and one who has sent others to stay here on business, dismayed that the potential of this property is not being realised, I hear great news - the Tor na Coille has been bought as a going concern by the highly respected owner of the nearby Drumtochty Castle Hotel. I understand the new Management Team took... more

I had travelled to Banchory for a friend's wedding. I booked this hotel. It was advertised as a luxury hotel and I chose a superior double room. This hotel is a disgrace. The room was THE MOST HIDDEOUS I have ever seen in 28 years of travelling. 1970's bedding and old tired furniture. Damp Walls and threadbare carpets. The hotel... more

please do not go to this hotel. We checked out after 15 minutes due to the appalling attitude of the staff and awful condition of the hotel and bedrooms. You can smell the mould and spores of damp as you walk in the hotel. The bedrooms are in a terrible condition and the hotel frankly should be shut down more

My mom and I traveled all over Scotland for 19 days and this was one of our favorite hotels out of the 13 different hotels we stayed at. We were given an enormous room - well actually it was two rooms and a bathroom. The main room was huge with high ceilings, large windows and a nice seating area. The... more

Hotel is situated just off the main Aberdeen Braemar road in quiet surroundings. It is an old building with character set in its own grounds. Check in was easy and I was shown to the room rather than given instructions. Carpets were a bit thread worn in areas in the corridor but that did not bother me. Room was a... more

Interesting to read the comments about the owner of the Tor Na Coille, how she has survived in the "hospitality" business is one of life's mysteries. I billeted a television crew there some years ago. In the morning after a live broadcast the sound op returned to the hotel and removed his sodden shoes before going to breakfast. Ms Sloan... more

We had a wonderful one night stay at the Tor-na-coille. From my first enquiry regarding availability, I found the experience very friendly and efficient. The room was fantastic - a lovely sized room with double bed for my husband and I, and a separate room within in with double bed, single bed or cot for the our 2 children. Privacy!!!... more

I travel all over Scotland and England, i complained about the beef, which i can honestly say was the worst piece i have ever eaten, i sent it back and ordered another piece. The next was the same so i left it and told the waitress, she said it would be knocked off the bill, in the morning they tried... more

We just happened to pass this hotel on our way to the (Best Western) Burnett Arms Hotel in Banchory. Needless to say, once we got to the Burnett Arms and realized it was a noisy pub masquerading as a hotel, we ditched our reservation and went back to the Tor-na-Coille. They not only accommodated us at the last minute offering... more

We have stayed at this hotel twice, once when our youngest son was only 1 and again when he was 2. We found the staff and the owner very accommodating of our family requirements, despite both our children being boys and sorely trying our own patience. The food was good and there was a great choice at breakfast. The staff... more
