My husband and I, together with our 3 children aged 12, 10 and 7 stayed for 1 week during February Half Term. We were met at the airport and taken to the hotel where a lovely meal in a cosy atmosphere was waiting for us. We were then shown to our equally cosy apartment which had an open fire which... More

Great family run hotel with friendly, passionate and informative staff. I went in a party of seven and each of us have the same feeling, what a great holiday! Rooms are basic, but as you don't spend much time there, they are more than adequate. Food was plentiful, basic but tasty. The activities are what made this trip. What ever... More

We travelled to Finland on Boxing Day 2011 for 6 Nights and stayed at the Nellim Wilderness Hotel. The staff were extremely helpful and all the guides were great. We had a wonderful time. The apartment was warm and cosy. We even had our own sauna. The food was fairly basic, standard fair as we expected for a hotel of... More

We booked this trip via the internet and had no difficulties at all. We were met at the airport as agreed and taken to the Wilderness Hotel. On arrival Lotta showed us to our cabin in the woods (brand new and fab). I can not fault this trip. However we went with a laid back attitude and if we needed... More

My wife and I stayed 5 nights, just off site (Lovely log cabin) from 16th Jan 2012, and I agree with everything NickALondon says, it is laid back, and relaxed. Check the board, AND ask at the desk WHEN your activities are booked, but do it daily as they can change, and you can also change it. We moved our... More

We live in Helsinki, and loads of people go to Rovaniemi to visit Santa's Village in the winter. We wanted to get away from the crowd, so we flew into Ivalo instead and stayed at Nellim Wilderness Hotel. What an amazing place! The guides are helpful, they're very accommodating to children, and the outings are superb. If you can manage... More

We stayed at the Wilderness Hotel Nellim 13-16/01/2012 to try to see the Northern Lights. Other reviewers have covered this location well (our thanks) so I will only add/emphasise a few points from our experience: 1) The staff are great – especially Wim and Petri (I think). Christoph, who runs the husky sledding, may be a little too down-to-earth for... More
