Spent one night DBB with my wife at Blackaddie and can certainly say it did not disappoint - both the accommodation and food were of the highest order. Other diners remarked on the "fine dining" standard of the food Ian and his staff delivered and agreed that if Blackaddie was near any large town or city in the UK tables... More

This is a fine hotel, which I would not have any hesitation in returning. However, it is not perfect, and greater attention to detail would be of benefit. BOOKING We booked at short notice and we were told that we would receive an across the board discount. We were suspicious, and we were proved to be right. The booking language... More

Thank you for your comments and we will try to put right the areas in which we fall down. We are aware that parts of the hotel still need to be refurbished but it takes time and a great deal of money. We are refurbishing as we can afford to. As always we try to upgrade customers that have only... More

Weekend treat 4th - 5th May 2013. Blackaddie House, an excellent venue for fine dining with chef owner Ian creating a varied choice of meals with terrific service by his staff members Kirsty and Michael providing warm friendly welcome and front line service. The hotel has been upgrading its accomodation but the standard is poor considering the £84+ per night... More

Your comments made interesting reading and I would just like, for the sake of balance and fairness, to comment on a few of the points you made and some you didn't make. Blackaddie House Hotel is a 16th century building and exposed pipework has surely to be expected in some cases in a building of this age. Despite your claim... More

Just back from a very enjoyable stay at the Blackaddie Country House Hotel. The food was faultless and the staff were all very friendly and attentive. As the owners say in their welcome information, "Rome wasn't built in a day". They took over a hotel that needed a lot of work to get them where they want to be. Food-wise,... More

we spent 2 nights here with 2 dogs on an April 2013 weekend. It was great. The staff were very welcoming, and the dogs were welcomed in the bar and adjacent rooms (everywhere except dining rooms). The room was dated but clean and adequate with a huge bed, and our particular room was about to be renovated. The plans for... More

Stayed here in mid March 2013, cold and snowing outside. Hotel is small but comfortable, the rooms (at least the one we had) are very good, like a mini suite with an excellent bathroom. Nice little touches like biscuits and fudge to go with your coffee in your room. We decided to have the Tasting Menu and it was excellent,... More

I stayed in this place many years ago, under the previous owners. In fact I stayed in the garden in my tent following a hillwalking accident and a very kind offer by the previous owners. My return visit was with my wife, to actually stay in the hotel. The room we had was tired, but perfectly adequate. The owners were... More

Stayed just the one night here, and it was a great treat. Whilst at first glance it seems expensive, you certainly get a quality experience. The room we stayed in was impressive (one of the larger ones) - very spacious, comfortable, peaceful and to high standard. The dinner is probably the main reason why most people go - and it... More

Nice country hotel just off Sanquhar main town. Not much to do around Sanquhar?- think again! Drumlanrig Castle, Threave Castle and Gardens, Solway coastline, Museum of National Costume and a great drive along Galloway's Red Kite trail - and yes you do get to actually see these great birds as you drive along. Drive a wee bit further north and... More

Had a 1 night stay here on an offer from Travelzoo. The room we were given was beautiful and had been recently refurbished from two smaller rooms. The bathroom was amazing with a huge shower cubicle and a whirlpool bath and was immaculate. The room had a comfortable leather sofa and an armchair so no more sitting on the bed... More
