We were looking for a small hotel in Alassio (one hour and 15 minutes from Nice) for one night to get away from our home outside of Nice. I booked this hotel the night before we arrived which in view of the time of the year (late June) somewhat supprised me. I tried the Savoia, but they were fully booked.
The hotel is located right on the beach. Our room was small, but had a view of the sea, fan (no air conditioning), a reasonably sized bathroom, and a large double bed. We originally booked the room only, but ended up having lunch at the hotel when we arrived. Lunch was great, fresh pasta, grilled squid, antipasti. Not haute cusinine, but very tastey. Dinner would have been only an extra 9 euros a piece,but we elected to try one of the restaurants nearer to town.
The center of town is about a 5 minute walk along the beach. Alassio is a typical Italian family beach town. Lots of grandparents pushing baby carriages, and young people looking for action.
