This is a no frills B+B in an enchanting village. It is very quiet even to the point of dullness but it is afterall a convent. It has the advantage of parking, a pleasant terrace/outdoor seating area and clean if small functional bedrooms. Courteous helpful staff and spotlessly clean as well as a decent breakfast (by Italian standards)

Our stay was too short. Only two nights. But the availability of the staff, the comfort of our room (well appointed for a family of 2 adults and 2 children) and the calm of the place made it a haven for us. That courtyard is a magnificent venue to relax before or after an excursion. The breakfast table offers plentiful... More

We had a small room in this restored convent and so enjoyed the quiet, peaceful atmosphere. The location is perfect, being in the old city of Erice, at the top of the mountain. Breakfast was excellent and the noon checkout allows for some morning time to visit Erice too. By all means, stay at the top of Erice and enjoy... More

Erice is a fascinating mountaintop mediaeval town, high up above Trapani in Sicily’s northwest, and it seemed fitting that our accommodation there was in a small hotel housed in a former Carmelite monastery. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Il Carmine. It is in a good location right near the city wall, so that we were able to park our... More

High point is the beautiful courtyard - if you have time to sit and enjoy it (great for a little picnic lunch with food from the simple little food shop you walk past on the way into the main touristy bit of town). A very low key but beautiful and quiet little place to stay, great for a family of... More

Wow! We stayed here in February and loved it. A14th century monestary converted to a small (9 room) hotel. Very quite, beautiful and clean. The staff was extra helpful and the village of Erice was spectacular. We especially enjoyed going to the market and bring back a "picnic" meal to eat in the dining room. There are fun restaurants on... More

Great monastery as accommodation. i really enjoyed it. Breakfast wasn't huge - continental - but was fine. Rooms lovely and warm considering I went for 3 really cold days in February. All in all the place was very very good and thoroughly enjoyed it,

I've been to Il-Carmine in Erice, Sicily, 7 times, so that says it all. It's a hotel with no frills in what used to be a monastery. Very spacious, clean and comfortable rooms. Don't expect anything spectacular for breakfast, but then it's not a five start hotel either. Its got character which blends well with the old town Erice.

I wanted my kids to experience different kinds of hotel and worried this would be their least favorite and instead they loved it! Who would think teenage boys would get a kick out of staying in a restored Carmelite convent? A central location, easy parking, friendly staff and a delicious breakfast were just perfect. We had a single giant room... More

We had a 3-night stay here in a double room in early November. A simple, clean and large room that the hotel website's photos really undersell. Very quiet, tiled and white-walled room with simple but old furniture, and a small table for prayer. A stone balcony overlooking a back alley. Free wifi, friendly staff and a decent breakfast.
