there is no way that this is a 5 star hotel. food was average. service below average. spa extremely weak-no steam, no sauna, just a few massage rooms. gym cramped w new equipment but the crappiest little tv high up in the corner where nobody can see it. pool is ok. service average. free wifi in room is nice. villas... more

My husband and I stayed here w/ 4 couples to celebrate a 40th birthday. The hotel is said to be the best in town and while it has pros i didn't see why it was the best in town as we have stayed at the il negresco which is 4 stars and nicer in many ways. the beach is across... more

In a few weeks my family and I will be returning to the Hotel Augustus for the 3rd year in a row. We love the area, the beach facilities and the proximity to other towns. The staff is friendly and helpful. The only problem is the food - it might be the worst food in Italy with poor atmosphere in... more

Our four-night stay at the Hotel Augustus in June 2006 was four nights too many! We thought we would treat ourselves to a bit of luxury in this so-called '5-star' hotel: we wished we had never bothered - it was a complete waste of the extra money. We booked a package on a half-board basis, which included the table d'hote... more

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights at the end of September, and I can honestly stay, that it deserved every bit of its 5 star rating. There was absolutely nothing that wasn't perfect! The rooms were spacious, clean with a welcoming bowl of fruit, and the height of decadence, a large bathroom each! The beds were exceptionally... more

This hotel holds very special memories for us as the first stop on a wonderful italian honeymoon. We stayed there a number of years ago now for 10 nights, but reading the reviews I felt a couple of points were worth mentioning to people thinking of visiting the Augustus. You want to stay in the lido part of the hotel... more

Hotel Augustus is a well-kept secret among vacationing Europeans. Americans are beginning to discover the charm of the property, which seems to worry the Europeans who have known about Augustus for years. I apologize in advance for broadcasting the charm of Forte dei Marmi and Augustus. We stayed during the last week in June 2005 when it was beginning to... more

This is simply a wonderful hotel. Yes, it's expensive but you're paying for: exclusivity, discrete but friendly staff, amazing food, extremely well maintained surroundings, and well appointed rooms (we didn't really need two bathrooms, but it was a bonus!!) Morning breakfast, al fresco is the perfect way to start your day. You can experience al a carte dining in the... more

This hotel is seriously over-priced, which probably applies to others in this area as well. While the grounds and common area are nice, the room furnishings here were substandard. Food was acceptable but you must order an entire dinner in their restaurant; no ala carte. Free-standing restaurants along the coast fill up early, so make reservations. As is the case... more
