The little town of Lecce, Italy a tranquil getaway for the traveler sick of tourist spots overrun with greedy people and pickpockets. I visited Lecce on business in July and December of 2007. In my July stay, I stayed at the Grand Hotel Tiziano and was disappointed with the service - the accommodations were just average. In my December trip I also took a vacation to Rome after my stay in Lecce and I can definitely say that Lecce is much more beautiful and enjoyable than Rome ever was during my stay. Part of my magical stay in Lecce was my stay at the lovely Arco Vecchio Residence B&B (which I think resembles a hotel much more than a standard American B&B).
My first reaction when I walked into the building, a modest white structure on the outside, was how spotlessly clean it was. Everything was new, and there was the lovely added touch of "Imagine" by John Lennon written on the walls in Italian. The staircase was cool and contemporary, as was the...
