Having not been to venice before, i don't know how this standard / cost compares to other hotels... but it was about the cheapest we could find in a reasonable location (800 Euros for 1 double and 1 twin room for 3 nights, inc breakfast). The location was brilliant. 1/2 mins walk from San Toma Vaporetto, 3 mins walk from... more

We stayed at this hotel for a night, and really enjoyed it! The staff was friendly, and the breakfast (only 15 euro extra) was one of the best I've had at any hotel in Europe. The only small quirk is that you should remember to use your bug spray (I saw a couple cockroaches, and woke up with a few... more

When I saw Hotel Iris from the outside it looked like a nice family-run place. It's tucked in a narrow street between Campo S.Toma and a canal. The room was pretty average.First thing i notice was that there was no way of keeping water in the sink.It just ran down the plughole.I looked around thinking there was no TV set until i... more

Our problems with the hotel started at check-in and just went downhill from then on. Having walked about 1km from the car park - no one knows where anything is in Venice - arrived sweaty and exhausted. "help with the bags sir ?" Fat chance.. your room's up 2 flights on stairs on the right. "We'd like to keep your... more

I reserved this hotel last minute and unfortunately did not have the time to read reviews beforehand. What a mistake. I paid about $250 US per night for this hotel room. The Bad: The hotel is old and is a dump. Not old as in charming. It is anything but charming. The hotel is decorated with nasty old furniture that... more

Venice, Iris Hotel Stayed 21st to 24th April 2008. Reviewed by Jo Knight, Exmouth I booked this hotel by chance, being unable to get the one I stayed in three years ago. It is a lovely little hotel, with a very nice restaurant attached and the food is superb. This is very welcome after a hard day walking round Venice.... more

We had a 3 day stay in August 2007. Superb location - really its outstanding asset. So convenient for San Toma vaporetto stop, Frari Church, lovely (if not cheap) restaurant in Campo San Toma, and exquisite local sights in a quiet area. A few negatives: I agree with other reviewers that reception staff could be more engaging and more friendly.... more

We stayed here for 2 nights in May 2007. This hotel has its advantages and disadvantages depending on what you are looking for when choosing a hotel in Venice. The hotel is located around the corner from a little canal. Only 2 rooms in the hotel overlook the canal, so if you are hoping for a room with a canal... more

We spent a few days in Venice recently and, on our second evening, discovered "Al Giardinetto". Our first dinner there was a very happy occasion;pleasant staff, good food. We went back the next evening, thinking that maybe we would book into the Hotel Iris for our next trip. What a change! We were served by a young man who we... more

We were only there for one night, but I have absolutely no complaints about anything. The room was quite nice, the staff was friendly and accommodating, and the breakfast was pretty good. I liked the location ... it was very quiet and I heard no noise from the street at all. There was a cafe close by. I would definitely... more
