Nice guest house with a beautiful location. It is an annex of the Hotel du Lac in Menaggio. I normally stay away from community bathrooms, but the two here were very nice. Price is pretty good for the area. Room was reasonable with no frills except for a beautiful view (sometimes you don't need much else). After receiving a reservation for a room with a view, on arrival, they tried to put me in a much more expensive room in the hotel. After I protested, they then tried to put me in an annex room without a view. After further protest, I finally got what I had reserved in the first place, and it was nice. Logistics can be fun: We took a train from Milan to Varenna, then a ferry to Menaggio. You'll have to walk about 5 minutes in Varenna and Menaggio, but we thought it was fun. It's a very good home base for visiting all of the central Lake Como area. more
