During our summer 2011 driving tour of Tuscany, my wife and I found the Hotel Picchio in Orvieto suited our needs very well. Picchio is not located on the hilltop of Orvieto like the higher visibility tourist establishments, but it is just at the bottom and frankly it was a better choice for many reasons. We flew to Rome, caught... More

We stayed here for a couple of nights and received a warm and inviting reception from the owners. Easy to visit the main town of Orvieto by the funicular but away from the hustle and bustle. The owners were very helpful and interested in helping us to enjoy our stay. Breakfast was good, the selection of home made cakes were... More

Very nice place, spacious quiet and bright rooms with a lovely host. Ideal if you have a car!!! A little way out of town but only 10 mins or so and the cable car is fun anyway. A good place to stopover outside of the walls. More

We stayed one night in Hotel Picchio. They gave us great information on visiting the hilltown, and the close proximity to the funicular made things very simple. Rooms are adequate, breakfast was good. All in all a good value! More

We stayed just one night after dropping our hire care just down the road and caught the train to Rome the next day. Chose this place because of location to station and car return, but would recommend to anyone on a budget in Orvieto. Our room was in the new building and it was clean and tidy with a little... More

We spent one night in the hotel, but we wish we could have stayed more. The hotel has a great location, very close to the Funicular. We loved the hostess, Jovana, who was exceptionally nice and welcoming. she gave us great advise about places to go, and she made the best breakfast we have had in a hotel in Italy! More

Hotel Picchio is five minutes’ walk from Orvieto Train Station -- and then a 75 meter climb at 30° plus gradient. On either side of that private road are the apartments and the rooms, on two floors. The setting is beautiful, with the road ending with the sheer cliff of Orvieto. I got my first floor room in the recently... More

We stayed for one night at the hotel Picchio and we would certainly stay there again. The hotel staff are lovely and couldn't have helped us more. In the morning we were delighted with the wonderful breakfast - just had to try at least one piece of each of the lovely cakes!! The lady who runs the hotel then gave... More

i really have trouble saying anything bad about this place. my husband and i stayed here during our tour of italy. It was clean, the service was lovely, the bed was comfortable. But the location was not good at all for us. it was close to the train station, but i was a long walk up hill to the city,... More

This hotel is not in Orvieto but rather at the base of the hill that Orvieto sits on. There is a footpath up to the town, about 800 meters that we walked up and a funicula that you can ride up that takes about 5 minutes. The hotel is reallty wonderful, good rooms and accommodations. Giovanna is the owner and... More
