Have just returned from a week at the Grand Hotel which does not live up to its name. Definitely not a 4 star. Staff need a course on hospitality especially in the dining room. This has been a great hotel but not any more. Aircon did not work. Too few staff available ie one on reception, one in bar, one cleaner and four in restaraunt sometimes. The main problem was safety. The fire doors on the main stairs were either wedged open with fire extinguisher, or would not close properly because of thick carpet.... more
