During our month in Italy, we stayed at only one agriturismo--Antica Torre. We loved it. It is located on a lovely hillside overlooking a valley. The rooms were large, comfortable and well-appointed. The Pavesi family was lovely--welcoming, knowledgeable, and great cooks. All together a lovely and peaceful way to spend a week-end.

we travelled here for 5 nights in July 2011. Dont follow any GPS guidance - its much easier to find from the town than it seems. Ring if you are lost as we were and the directions were great. Lovely rooms, dark and cool. A great little pool, and a dinky wee breakfast/restaurant with super local cucina tippica. we will... More

This was our first night in Italy. After traveling from Atlanta, battling the roads of central Milano, finding this gem was such a blessing! The owners were so welcoming and their English was superb (much appreciated to dull the culture shock of the first day). The rooms of the tower were a special treat. We would have been comfortable in... More

We spent 3 days in the lovely Antica Torre. It was our first time staying at an agriturismo and we didn't know what to expect on our stay at the farm. It was great! The Pavesi family were wonderful hosts. Admiral Nelson, the dog, was good fun. We had dinner at the farm 2 of the 3 nights and both... More

We had an excellent stay at Antica Torre. The farm is pleasant, the proprietors friendly and helpful, and our room was large and beautifully furnished. We had dinner in their outdoor dining area both nights of our stay, two terrific meals. All of the food is grown on their premises or in the area. Salsomaggiore Terme is a pleasant enough... More

We spent five nights of charming bliss at this unique gem. The family including the dog are all enchanting and so attentive and generous. Having worked in hotels for over 25 years we were spellbound by the combination of professionalism and love. The spotless spacious suite with its own terrace offering breath taking views...the family meals selflessly nurtured with the... More

My husband and I stayed at Antica Torre in Salsomaggiore for several nights mid-July of this year, 2012. I was a bit concerned about the location since on Google maps it was hard to tell how far away from the Autostrada the property was located. but Karen Brown's travel site recommended it and I know the reviewers for Karen Brown... A family of very friendly people run this agriturismo. Pleasant rooms, certainly those for families with children: 2 bedrooms and a huge living room. Evening dinner prepared by the Nonna is a must! Visits to nearby towns like Parma, Modena and many others are pleasant daytrips, followed by a swim in the pool.

Antica Torre is a lovely agriturissmo outside Salsamaggiore. Note that it is quite a drive from the city of Parma--which can be a day trip but is relatively far. The farm is hard to find, so best to get a GPS. The rooms are lovely, decorated with antiques, and a good set up for us with our 11 year old... More

We spent one night here on our way back to UK. We were well looked after from the start, no complaints about the room, and dinner in the large communal dining room was fun. Excellent family cooking and wines. Service was genuinely attentive and friendly, and a nice breakfast al fresco in the morning. The Torre was bust with visitors... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Antica Torre is a biological farm holidays in a tiny middle of age village, once well connected to Parma and Piacenza castles. Among the green hills surrounded by nature and an absolute stillness, the town of Salsomaggiore and the food valley dominate the all landscape situated between Tuscany and Lombardy located near Ligurian See.Visiting these places means enjoy an historical and artistic culture made of typical food products such as “Culatello”, Parma Ham, Parmesan Cheese and many others that are the main symbols of Emilia Romagna’s food tradition listening the notes of Giuseppe Verdi’s Opera. The complex offers different types of fully furniture lodgings, both following a similar rustic theme. We have thought to call our rooms inside the Medieval tower and in the rustic buildings, with the names of maestro Giuseppe Verdi's Operas, like Traviata, Rigoletto, Nabucco etc.. For families or group of friends we offer large and confortable solutions. Our many rooms (dining room, living rooms and bedrooms) ensure privacy and relaxation, and the close relationship with the family make satisfaction almost guaranteed. An added bonus is the proximity of Salsomaggiore Terme City, with its renowned thermal springs. Guests are free to indulge, dedicating yourself to health and wellbeing. ... more   less
