Where can you stay in Tuscany for 40 euro a night? If you're a budget traveler (who has experience with hostels and simple pensions) this place is for you. It's simple, but has everything you need, including an elevator for your luggage. My husband and I stayed here in October and it was exactly what we paid for; a simple,... More

I had read all the reviews but I decided to stay here for ten nights in July 2011. First of all, the price simply cannot be beat in Tuscany. Second, the people here (Angela and Antonio) were fantastically helpful and kind. The location is fine for walking into the city every day and exploring there. The view from the second... More

The first thing you need to know is that to get there, you head toward Porta a Selci by the Fortezza Medicea (that is, on the eastern end of the walled city) from outside the wall, but don't go through the gate. Turn right and go along the wall until road ends in the parking lot for the seminary. The... More

Based on location and price booked a few nights... should have left immediately. Room was dirty, smelled like mildew, floors not clean, and dead bugs on the ledge; and the nightly stray dog fights nearby didn't add much to the experience. If you want cheap then go here, if you want to have a pleasant stay go elsewhere.

TRhis seminary, built in the mid 15th century has 12 foot vaulted ceilings. The real deal.Private rooms with bath, for under $20. per night is best bargain in Italy. Rooms are plain, no TV, phone, internet access; but if you want all the bells & whistles, why did you cone to Italy. Free parking, walking distance to central square is about... More

I had really low expectations of this place, especially after reading the first review. However, I was pleasantly surprised. I had a twin room all to myself for 15 euros, which is the best value I had on this whole trip and ever in Italy (this is my 6th time here). The place was very clean. I had shared bathrooms,... More

Since we were taking an impromtu Tuscan holiday, we didn't have any hotels pre-booked. Most places were already full the day before our arrival, except this place. Hmm. It's not a bad place to stay a night or two if you have really low expectations. It's a huge, cavernous place and I think we were the only ones staying there... More

We are a family of four (two adults and two teens) and we stayed at Seminario Vescoville in June 2008. The staff at the Seminario were very friendly and helpful, and the facility has a lot of character. However, it needs some attention and restoration. We were traveling in Europe for two months staying in budget lodging each night, and... More

This place is a little gem tucked away close to the centre of Volterra in Tuscany. The people were friendly even with their limited English and out limited Italian. The place is amazing with vaulted ceilings. The rooms are basic enough but the building is wonderful. It was peaceful yet close to the centre of the village. There is free... More
