We stayed at Hotel Le Maquis at peak season. We read tripavisor before making the booking. Unfortunately many points are true. 1/ Nice location, right by the sea 2/ Access to a private beach although there are some sharp rocks off the beach where several hotel guests injured themselves 3/ One of the few hotels with a tennis court in... more

We booked it for 3 nights and escaped after 1 night! I hated every second of the experience. The room was so ugly and tired that I even didn't dare to seat on the stained sofa. We asked to change room...It was still extremely old-fashioned. The bathroom was new but they kept the old fittings (lights, toilet roll holder)!!! We... more

I had heard so many things good about this small and quaint hotel but what a disappointment. The hotel is in a lovely secluded cove with its own private garden and beach, great sunsets but staff did not go overboard. Outrageously expensive for a room with a terrace and a complimentary bowl of fruit. The room was minimalist to say... more

I would very much agree with the previous review. This is a lovely charming hotel-very romantic and very peaceful. It has an awful lot going for it-location,intimacy,charming staff, great food, proximity to Ajaccio. But it could be so much better if the owner invested in some much needed room refurbishments. All of the rooms are tired and outdated and some-on the top floor-are just awful.I would... more

...but it's currently only above average. Let me begin with the positives. 1) The dinner is absolutely fantastic - both the food and the service. We ended up eating dinner at the hotel for four out of our five nights for reasons I'll get into later, and we were extrememly satisfied. We chose the multi-course menus, and I would highly... more

We stayed for four days with three kids and found the hotel nice but lacking the little extra one would expect. We would classify it as a charming 4-star but not a 5-star and not worth the price they charge. The location is very nice with rooms touching the waters edge on the sandy beach. It was cold when we... more

At the height of summer/school holidays, this hotel is certainly not cheap. However, with only 20 rooms and its own relaxing beach, it is a good option. Conveniently close to Ajaccio (if you have your own car), and within walking distance of Porticcio with its bars and restaurants, it still feels like a world away from crowds if you feel... more

With red plastic fittings in the bathroom, furniture from the 70s and surly staff this hotel barely deserves 3 stars. more

We stayed at Le Maquis for our honeymoon and loved it! It has beautiful views of the sea, and a lovely private beach. The hotel is small, so it never feels crowded. There is a very nice outdoor pool, as well as a tennis court and an indoor pool. The rooms were nice, in a "provencal" style. We had a... more
