A lovely little hotel in the centre of Montlucon. The 2 rooms that we had were both spacious and quiet with a nicely sized bathroom as well as all the needed toiletries. The restaurant on the premises is very nice also and the food served here is excellent. It was a pity that on the day of our stay it... More

I found this hotel after some searching on the internet for a place to stay over on our way to La Rochelle. The Location of the hotel is charming, it is located in the older part of Montlucon next to the church. The staff are very charming and friendly, and nothing is ever too much bother. The rooms are clean... More

We stayed for just one night in May 2012. Montlucon, like most French towns has a substantial collection of old buildings and narrow streets full of character - and Le Grenier a Sel is at the heart of the old part of town. Tucked away, tricky to find, partly because of the many one way streets, but a haven of... More

Spacious comfortable rooms in a hotel with bags of character that has the feel of being in a chateau. What a lovely place and set in a historic setting. Its tricky to find and even my sat nav didn´t help as the old town is now mostly pedestrian. A friendly traffic warden (yes honestly) put us right. The receptionist was... More

Gorgeous old house with a good restaurant and beautifully old style rooms (but super clean and cosy) with very up to date bathrooms. We had a room in one of the towers and absolutely loved it. Dinner was first class and a walk through the funky old town afterwards was bliss.

Although this hotel is part of the Logis collection, it is right at the top end, and is probably the best place to stay and to eat in Montlucon. The hotel is full of old-world charm, with beautifully crafted and styled public rooms. As a previous 'hotel particulier', there are nooks and crannies everywhere, making the building a delight to... As previous stated in a review the hotel can be difficult to locate, being just off the main shopping street - but look out for the Tourist Office then turn into what looks like a pedestrian area to see signs for the hotel. The hotel has a small private car park but with tricky access. Our room (No. 2) was... More

We have stayed at many hotels in France over the last 30+ years. Most recently we have taken to using chain hotels as it is usually easier to book. I thought it would be pleasant to revert to a more traditional style so chose the Logis (less of a chain and more of a French co-operative). The hotel did not... More

The receptionist spoke very little english and it is rather odd to be asked what time do you want breakfast when you first arrive. The room was decorated with lots of frill but with a mismatch of colours. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom well appointed. The TV had no satellite channels. The internet did not work and no-one could... More
