The hotel was convenient and easy to find. Very warm welcome.
Our room on the ground floor can only be described as out-of-date contemporary in style, but it had a big comfortable bed. The lighting was subtle to a fault. The bathroom was 'bijou' but robes and slippers were appreciated. Why can't one scarcely ever find a socket for a hair-dryer close enough to a mirror?
Bar (still smoking 28 hours before total smoking ban) was set about with candles and painted bamboo - comfortable but a bit odd.
The restaurant service was very, almost too, attentive. The menu too was strange, fusion - France meets North Africa via China - 'con'fusion, really. The sommelier was pushing very expensive local wines. Our less expensive choice (again a bit strange to one of us) matched perfectly with the fantastic local cheese, but not with the starters and main course.
Then out came the chef, a vision in pink-piped blacks with matching Elton John-type spectacles...
