On this trip to France we needed an overnight stop near to Boulogne. We have always stayed in small french hotels before but decided to check the internet for a bed and breakfast and came up with Malcolm and Carols. Very nice couple and friendly couple who really can't do enough for you. We were offered an evening meal at... More

My wife and I have stayed at Soixante-Seize five or six times now and we think that, in itself, tells you something. It is an excellent stopover for us being within five or ten minutes of the Boulogne ferry terminal, (good for late arrivals and early departures), and only a ten or fifteen minute walk from the old fortified town.... Lovely greeting from very helpful & polite owners, so first impresions good . Pleased to say that this was reflected throughout my short stay. Rooms modern & comfortable with even a tea & coffee tray ( often very hard to find in France) . Wonderful sunny garden terrace. After a very comfortable nights sleep the icing on the cake here... This was one of the oddest B&B experiences I have had... and guessing from their responses to other guests' comments the owners really show that they have no clue really of what they are doing wrong. Well, we arrived on the ferry in the evening. The ferry was late, so we were late. We arrived at about 9.3o pm and... More

The message here is that we did not make this lady feel at ease and enjoy her stay with us – this is most regrettable. There is no such thing as a curfew she must have misunderstood our intentions that evening and we will redouble our efforts to ensure no one ever again will be under the impression that they... More

Stayed only one night. Long term road works in the road but no bother to users other than need to drive a long way round to gain access. A straight forward B&B about 10 mins walk from old city and same to downtown area. In a residential road but easy free parking opposite or very near-by. Run by an English... More

This is perfect if you want someone who speaks english, however if you are hoping to indulge in a bit of French culture this would not be the place to go. The owners are very forward thinking even sending me an sms in the morning we were due to arrive to advise of road works and an alternastive route. We... More

This is a little gem of a place. It doesn't look much from the road but when you get inside it is lovely. The room we had overlooked the garden and we had a marvellous view of the cathedral and old town. It was very tastefully decorated and we had access to the garden if we so wished. We were... More

The room was perfectly comfortable, the location good- central and quiet. The owners, however, were trying so hard (I presume)to be helpful and friendly that they didn't leave us alone. They talked loudly in the garden outside our room at 7am, sat in the room while we tried to unpack and insisted on talking to us throughout breakfast. The other... More

We of course very sorry to heard from a couple that thought we were too attentive! However the statements that we sat in their room ‘while we tried to unpack’ and entered to ‘clean whilst someone was in the bathroom’ are slightly exaggerated to say the least. We understand there are levels of friendliness and intrusive behaviour would be very... More

I needed to stay one night in Boulogne whilst travelling in France. The owner of the boarding house Malcolm phoned me back to explain how to best reach the property via public transport, pointing out that they were situated on quite a steep hill. This was just the start of the helpful advice and support the owners Malcolm and Carol... More
