5 Jan 2010 | Trip type: Friends getaway New

My wife, 2 of our close friends and I spent 5 nights at Hotel Val Chaviere over New Year 2009/10. We had a fantastic trip and the hotel was everything that we needed. The location couldn't be better with ski in and ski out. We stayed on a half board basis and the food was excellent (especially the fondu night!!!)... more

Just returned from a week skiing. The hotel location is as good as it gets without spending a fortune. Rooms were okay for a ski resort, pretty basic but importantly warm enough and with plentiful hot water always available. The bath was just about big enough to lie down in and soak away the aches. Flat screen LG television with... more

Just returned from a pre-Christmas week skiing in Val Thorens, where we stayed on a half-board basis in the Val Chaviere. As the title of this review states, the hotel is in a great "ski in, ski out" location, and sits almost in the middle of the resort, with all other bars/restaurants no more than a gentle 10 minute stroll... more

I was slightly concerned having read some of the reviews on the site but we had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The food was plentiful and, although there was the occasional course that one of our family of three was not keen on, we had no trouble eating enough. The soups were excellent, next course was something like smoked... more

Starting with the best thing about this hotel which was the location. It was ski in ski out and in a very easy location to access all the slopes. It was also less than a 5 min walk to the town itself. This part of the hotel could now be faulted. The rooms we ok. They were quite small and... more

Breakfast is on a continental basis with an excellent choice, though the only hot dish is a boiled egg. Bread wonderful The rooms our comfortable and basic, with a small... more

La Val Chaviere was a delightful place to stay for an excellent skiing holiday. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfasts and five course dinners were superb. Although there is no choice of dishes on the dinner menu, the food was well cooked and presented, and there was more than enough to eat after a full day on... more

stayed at the val chaviere march 07. Rooms not large but warm , clean and comfortable. Breakfast was worth getting up for - fresh rolls, croissants, cheeses, ham, jams, eggs, cereal, beverages. 5 course dinner was loveley and something to look forward to. Cosy sofas in bar with beautiful views over slopes. Daughter was vegetarian and hotel were very accommodating.... more
