We travelled across the Reschen pass from Austria to reach Vilpiano and the Hotel Sparerhof, which meant that a quarter of an hour before we arrived we passed the Forst brewery on the edge of Merano and started to feel thirsty. I stayed here twice while touring the alps , the location is great,, just off the autoroute abnd very easy to find. The hotel is great, small and cosy but the owner, Andrea and his family put a lot of effort into making your stay a great experience. The hotel was clean, stylish and service was excellent. The buffet breakfast made our stay special. The only thing I would recommend is to have the windows shut before you go to sleep, as the traffic noise on the nearby highway is very noisy.

Rooms were perfect, clean, and fresh. Andreas Sparer was the best host in Italy. Great English (Italian and German, of course) and this guy made our trip by recommending local sights, local eats (his own restaurant is excellent) and in general, he enhanced our trip more than I can say.

If you believe hotel staff set the tone of one's stay, then this place is for you. We easily found the hotel on the web and felt comfortable with the excellent reviews and when we arrived we understood why. No spectacular location but in the middle between Bolzano and Merano, friendly staff, average, clean rooms, good breakfast.

Our party of 5 had two rooms and both were clean, comfortable, and attractive. The pool was pleasant. The restaurant (in the garden, on a lovely evening) was very good.
