Do not expect too much - but for the price it is very good value. Chalets are comfortable with big beds and good mosquito netting (once the sides are suitably anchored so no gaps). A bit better lighting inside would work wonders too. The bar and restaurant is good with a simple but pleasant menu and daily specials for fish... More

I didn't actually stay here but friends that did really enjoyed it. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the manager, Faye, goes out of her to way to help not only her guests, but non-guests as well. We ate at the restaurant a few times - it is very reasonable, but bear in mind that the service, like most... More

We stayed here before an early start back to Zambia. Kay the manger met us when we arrived and we had 3 good rooms one (number 2) with a tea in the bathroom. Good atmosphere with others also staying or eating. We had a 6 am start next day and she was up with tea packed lunches. would recommend staying... More

Last week I had the opportunity to visit Cape Maclear aka Chembe Village in Malawi and we spent some lovely days at Mgoza Lodge where we were welcomed by Kay, the very friendly and welcoming manager. She takes very good care of her guests, having a friendly word for each and everyone of them. The menu of the restaurant has... More

First and foremost, the manager Kay is very very helpful, friendly and knowledgable. I believe she used to managed Mumbo Island, just offshore from Mgoza Lodge. When we stayed, she was up until late and then up to fix breakfast for us the following morning. A really hard worker, who always had a smile on her face. In fact Kay... More

Have known the Manager for a while from regular visits to the Cape and was surprised to see Kay working in Mgoza. She is a breath of fresh air to the place and food is definitely worth having whilst in the Cape. Was there for Easter and had a super Easter lunch with a group of the locals all sharing... More

We stayed comfortably and slept well with mozzy nets and fans in these "rustic" type, reasonably priced, rooms. Ensuite but no hot water. Though close to village sounds it was not overwhelming and did not prevent us sleeping. The lack of bedside reading lights was made up for by bringing in the 2 (very efficient) solar powered lanterns, which were... More

Mgoza lodge was perfect for a few days of relaxing and meandering around Cape Maclear. Rooms are small bungalows facing the beach, clean, environmentally conscious and withing hearing distance of the sound of lapping waves - great for sleep. We had a few fine meals there, then went sampling along the strip (Hiccups, Cape Maclodge), but Mgoza was tastiest as... More
