We got to Bamberg by: Air Berlin flight from London Stansted to Nuremberg, U-bahn underground from airport to Nuremberg city, then RB train to Bamberg. Buy a 28 euro ticket which will give you unlimited travel on trains and buses anywhere in Bavaria for 1 day for 5 people. From Bamberg train station it's an 8 minute walk to Fassla.... more

Bamberg, Germany Excellent location. Very German. Located within walking distance of the train station (10-12 min). On the way to the town center, the river and the famous Univ. (5-20 min.) No taxi required. Single was Euro 34/night - very reasonable. Large German groups, friendly, good beer and food. Very few spoke English. Made lots of friends. Highly reccommended. Must... more

The Fassla on Konigstrasse is a pub, a brewery and a hotel all rolled into one. What better place to stay when on a trip exploring Bavaria's contribution to the world of beer? Bamberg is not called the Capital of Brewing for nothing! And the Fassla is just about every beer drinker's ideal place to stay. For a start, it's... more

I've stayed here twice now. This is an excellent stopover for anyone touring, in a group or on a beer trail around Bamberg. But may not be everyone's choice. The rooms are of variable size, fairly basic but with all facilities working. The showers are good, but towels are thin & you may need to purchase an additional pillow as... more

My wife and 2 grown up sons stayed here for 5 nights prior to going to Munich for the beer festival. I have to say did not see one skinhead all the time i was in bamberg which we found to be a lovely little town with 8 other great breweries all worth visiting esp the Griffin one. Booked direct... more

Had a very pleasant stay here, nice clean but basic room-bring your own soap and shampoo as none is provided. The beer is excellent and very good value at 2 Euros for 1/2 litre and the courtyard bar is a great place to drink it. The buffet breakfast was very good quality (cold meats, cheeses, various breads and fresh brew coffee). Staff... more

My wife and I stayed for one night in July 2006. OK, the bar itself is a little cramped, a bit smoky, and doesn't attract the most highly educated clientele. But our room was great! Huge, clean, quiet, and very inexpensive. My wife and I even stopped in for a beer one night, and I have to say, it was... more

This is a brewery with an attached Gasthof/hotel. We were on a cycling holiday along the river Main and this was one of the few places which still had vacancies and room for our bikes. The rooms themselves were ok and very reasonably priced. It was strange though to be "greeted" by a large group of bald Neo Nazis with... more
