This is a wonderful hotel for the family (and for others)! We booked a very reasonable summer family rate directly with the hotel (email), which included breakfast and dinner. The food was outstanding, both the traditional German fare and other selections offered. We found that they had a table reserved for us in the lovely restaurant each night. Very interesting... more

Have just returned from a memorable winter week`s holiday at the Achtermann. Included in the charge of 100 Euros per day for 2 persons was an expansive buffet breakfast and free use of the swimming pool and saunas. We were very excited to stay at this hotel since it was a restored castle. The location was great, close to train station and town. It is rated a 4 star. The breakfast was excellent but the rooms were very small, with tiny bathrooms and stained carpets. Certainly not worth the 4 stars in our experience. It did look like... more
