The biggest reason to stay at this hotel is that it's right in the Aldstadt. That comes with pros and cons, though. Pros: *Tons of restaurants, cafes and shopping within a few minutes walk *Decent, good sized rooms - a little dated, but not bad. *Minibar includes delicious Furstenburg beers *Friendly, helpful staff Cons: *Parking is bad - I mean... Judging from a short stopover, the old town of Villingen is a delight and the Mercure Hotel is ideally situated just inside the city walls, directly opposite the tourist centre and a short walk from the Munster. My room was a good size and tastefully decorated and furnished with ample cupboard and desk space, two chairs and small table. It... More

Splendid Hotel in the heart of Villingen's shopping centre. We stayed 7 nights from 28th December 12 to 4th January 13 on half board basis (travelled with a group). Room was spacious and comfortable attic on 4th floor reachable by only 1 lift (only drawback). Abundant buffet breakfast, and fairly good dinners. New year's Gala Dinner Dance was sumptuous and... Typical mid scale hotel, very clean, room large enough, WIFI worked well, staff kind. Parking is not too far away, probably less than 200 meters but car can be parked outside the entrance to drop luggage off. Breakfast slighlty better than average. Overall happy and I would go back: I am not giving 5 points for the typical let downs... More

I was in this hotel some years ago & I chose to stay here to confirm some past impressions. Though a bad introduction (they could not find my reservation) and though the hotel was almost complete with touristic groups and seminars, a very gentle receptionist could find me a nice and comfortable room, responding to all needs of business travelling... I stayed here one night for business. Rooms are average European size, and not as fresh as a new facility but also not tired. Service is good, breakfast buffet is very nice. But the absolute best thing about this hotel is location - it's right in the heart of the walled city. In both the evening and early morning I... More

Chose Villingen as a central point for travelling by rail to various locations in the Black Forest. The hotel is in a lovely location by one of the town gate towers. The rooms are very good, staff were efficient and friendly. The breakfast choice was excellent.

It's really a beautiful hotel, just inside the old medieval city walls, so in a really comfortable position. Big rooms, modern and good breakfast. And everything for a good price! And also the town is fantastic, the medieval city is very well preserved and there is lot o typical places where to eat (even if at the end I ate... More

Villingen is a medieval town full of historic buildings Looking at this place from the street you wouldn't think there was a hotel inside with four floors and dozens of rooms I was part of a large work conference group that was billeted in the hotel and I am glad they chose it Breakfast was typical German continental style, and...
