Perhaps the best 'airport hotel' I have seen in the world! We stayed a night here and just loved it. The staff are extremely nice, the room, which was upgraded, was like that of a beautiful home, the ambience was outstanding and the food was to die for. Even the breakfast they packed for us in the morning was better than most hotels can deliver. Well done, folks!

This was a wonderful end to a wonderful holiday . A vast, superbly renovated 200 year old estate house , set in fabulous grounds , with several comfortable seating areas and a lovely swimming pool, only 20 mins from the airport. The character bedroom was spacious , with large and well equipped en suite and generous supply of soft drinks. The menus for both dinner and breakfast offered a great choice and the Sri Lankan curry , with so many dishes , was one of the best we have had in our several visits to Sri Lanka. The welcome and service was to the very warm and very high standards that you come to expect in the wonderful country that is Sri Lanka

Excellent choice. 1. Location - outside of Colombo, about 15-30minutes from Bandaranaike airport. The Wallawwa is a very quiet property, situated in a large garden which is immaculately maintained. There are lots of places to wander around. 2. Details - communication with the hotel was easy via WhatsApp, all the requested items such as car transfer, fan in the room - were noted correctly. AC in the room goes to 18C, it felt very comfortable. There is a TV in the room. There is a small boutique on site. 3. Food - we had breakfast and two dinners here. They were excellent. A good arrangement of Sri Lankan and Western dishes. There is tea in the afternoon and happy hour too. Service was really on point. Lovely people. 4. Spa - we had great deep tissue massage treatments here by the two Balinese therapists. 5. Staff - chatty, gentle, seem content in their jobs.

Super first night in Sri Lanka - an oasis close (20minutes) from the airport. Arty designed furnishings to fit in with the old house. Spacious rooms and beautiful large well tended garden. But best of all the staff - so welcoming and helpful.

We have just completed our trip to Sri Lanka & could not have asked for a nicer end to our journey than a stay in this amazingly luxurious hotel. The rooms are clean & large, bathrooms are fabulous and the staff, from trainees to the Manager were warm and friendly & willing to assist in any way possible to make our stay enjoyable. Pool & grounds are well maintained & beautifully serene. A great place to stay either on your way to the airport or upon arrival to Colombo to ease into the Sri Lankan way of life

We began a recent three week stay in Sri Lanka at Wallawwa. Although its selling point is that it is very near the airport, it has far more to offer, and we do recommend spending at least two nights there. It is a very restful hotel, perfect for recovering after a long flight, or from an island tour. It is also a great base for exploring Negombo, and is close to the Botanic Gardens near Gampaha (the site of the first rubber plantation in Sri Lanka). There are a few shops just outside the entrance, one stocking everything you might have forgotten to bring, and Prasanna’s cashew nut shop is highly recommended. The food and the service are all excellent, and we especially enjoyed the evening rice and curry. Our thanks to Prasad and all his staff for such an enjoyable stay and for making us so welcome.

The Wallawwa is indeed a wonderful colonial boutique hotel (at a price, that is). We arrived today in the booked Garden Suite which is very wel decorated. Surroundings are very pleasant. However: the terrace belonging to the suite has no comfy chairs but you have to sit very uncomfortably on a corner-bench and there is no table at all. So don’t count on sitting at ease with a book or your laptop. What a pity that we had to remove 2 starts out of five.

Wallawwa is simply a lovely introduction to Sri Lanka for a first night when you arrive from the airport. It's old world colonial charm style at it's best. We were given a lovely cake for our anniversary and we very much enjoyed the generous Happy Hour drinks looking out over the lawn.

Just 15 minutes from Colombo airport, the Wallawwa is the perfect safe harbor for the weary traveler in search of creature comforts and rest after a long international flight. We enjoyed our time there so much, we spent our last two nights in Sri Lanka there as well. Once a country estate during Colonial times, it has since been converted into an elegant and serene boutique hotel complete with large comfortable rooms, enormous skylit baths, an excellent kitchen round the clock kitchen, swimming pool, and lovely reasonably priced spa. Impeccably managed, its staff exudes warmth and offers a highly professional level of service. We were so glad to have asked Wallawwa to send a driver to meet our flight. Selvam was the first Sri Lankan we met and immediately won us over with his warm welcome, careful driving and helpful travel advice. Selvam drove us to the second stop on our itinerary and was ultimately the last Sri Lankan we said goodbye to when had to catch a 3 AM flight home. The Wallawwa truly feels like well run family home. I can not recommend it more highly.
