The Taverna Lusitana was simply unique. Its location and design, incorporated into the incredible hillside village of Monsanto, were stunning. The food was good, the owners were great - would defy anyone not to have a wonderful experience here.

My husband & I (with our friends Ron & Carol) visited Monsanto & stayed at Taverna Lusitana - April 2013. The B & B & town are very unique - the most beautiful place I have ever visited - would go back in a second. Service & food were great - especially the flaming chorizo sausage on the stone deck...

We didn't sleep in the tavern, we stayed in another place, but we came there to eat and drink (at the evening and during the day). This is very nice, small place with great owner. Take a "Magic potion" drink he makes)) The food was extremely good. I would recommend this place very much )))

Above all, it was warm, in one of the coldest and wettest March's that Portugal has...

Old ladies looking at us from behind the window curtains, houses built within the stone, a cat meowing in the distance. Near the castle we came across a cut out figure of a Lusitanian warrior marking the entrance....

Funny and beautiful place in the Middle of the rocks. Having Breakfast or dinner on the terrace it's like being in the Asterix village. Joao is very kind and he will be helpful in every situation!!!! Ciao Joao. Diana&Simone PS: remember that monsanto is a walking area and it's on a hill!!!
This tavern is primarily a restaurant with two rooms for rent. My wife and I did not stay here, but did have a leisurely dinner and long conversations with the owners. They are a young cpouple from Lisbon. Outside the restaurant is a hokey cut out pre-Roman Luisitanian, which made me wary of the quality of the place. My fears...
